Friday John Ku – AKA – TGIF

Another week in the bag. (so to speak). We are happy that all the repairs have been made at our house. Yesterday was the first day in six months that no one was scheduled to come in and do something. The sound of silence is deafening. I have to say after all the angst and loss of hair, the house looks great.

Here is the photo I ran on this blog before the flooring work started.

New Floors

So here is the finished item. Wider planks, darker wood, more texture in keeping with a beach house.

Today’s John Ku talks about the new normal in a disaster area. I hope you have a great weekend.

Normal completion,

Can be months instead of weeks . . .

Learn patience virtue.

    1. Thank you, Ray. That is the plan. 😀

    The Fab Four of Cley

    1. Thank you, Klausbernd.

  4. Turned out beautifully! The darker/wider planks really update the look of your place. I like the color of your walls, by the way. I know they look different in a photo, is that like a misty green? Patience IS a virtue. Wish I could go out and acquire some. haha.

    1. The walls are actually grey. The camera gives them a green tone for some reason. I think it is the light interference. Thank you, Pamela.

      1. Yes, a soft grey can give off different pastel color according to the light. I like it! 🙂

      2. Thank you, Pamela.

  5. Looks beautiful! I’m glad for you that it’s done!

    1. Me too. Thanks, Phil.

  6. Great job on the floors.

  7. Gwen Plano · ·

Wow, the deeper tones are exquisite. I suspect your floors will keep speaking to you for awhile, of Harvey and workmen and transformation. 🙂

    1. Yes. We have to tell them (the floors) to hush once in a while. Thank you, Gwen.

  8. Just in time for Tiggy’s arrival! The floors are beautiful, John. Enjoy the peace and quiet…you deserve it.

    1. Thank you for the nice words, Jill.

  9. It looks great, John!
Enjoy the silence . . bask in it.

    Have a great day!

    1. “Hello darkness my old friend.” Thanks, Marc.

      1. Well DONE sir! I love it!

  10. It looks like they did a super job, John. I’m glad it’s all behind you, and I hope Mother Nature is kind to your part of the Gulf for several years to come.

    1. Thanks, Dan. We are hoping the same. 😀

  11. Classy! … and cheers to no contractors!

    1. Yay! Thank you, Frank.

  12. Looks great, but your decanters are empty.

    1. Ha ha ha. You would spot that. Thanks, Craig

  13. The darker wood and wide plank is perfect for a beach house. The place looks awesome! So glad things are back to normal….and just in time for Twiggy! 🙂
    Happy Fri-yay!

    1. Thank you, Mae. 😀

  14. Congrats, John!
I’m sitting in the bedroom – house in total disarray – working on a tiny notebook type laptop – waiting for the carpet installers to finish and then it’s back to work putting everything back together!! It’s been an experience living in a construction zone!!

    1. You need to call for help. Maybe Tiny can be of assistance.

  15. Given that so much work needed to be done in the Port Aransas area, it is a blessing that everything is done.

    Looks great too!

    1. Thak you, Greg. I think you are right.

  16. Congrats, John!! It is beautiful!

  17. So glad your house is worker-free once again. It looks great! And won’t little Twiggy be happy to have a forever home without all that noise and confusion?!

    1. Yes, she will. Thank you, Dennie.

      1. Debbie. Don’t know where Dennie came from. Oh yes I do the N is next to the B

  18. Lookin’ great, John! 😀 Good to have it all finished for your new arrival 😉 Enjoy the holiday weekend!

    1. Thak you, Jan 😀

  19. So finally it’s done John, and in time for Easter too. Your floor looks great.

    1. Thank you, Guy. Yup just in time.

  23. Everything looks great, John!

  24. It looks just wonderful. Isn’t it funny how we advise one another to “practice” patience? I wonder from time to time how much practice is required before we get it right? For now, at least, your patience has paid off — enjoy the silence, and the new beauty around you.

    1. Thank you, Linda. We are doing just that. 😀

  25. Well said JohnKu word. The new floor looks terrific!

    1. Thank you, Jennie. 😀
