Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy Continues Learning

“Hi, Bailey. What’s going on?”

“Hi, Pops. I was just wondering what Lucy and Twiggy are up to out there.”

“From here it looks like they are talking.”

“Talking? What about?”

“Hard to say, Bailey. You know Lucy has taken her role as big sister seriously. Why don’t you join them and see what they are saying?”

Bailey

“Good idea.”

“Hey, you guys. Whatcha talkin’ about?

“Twiggy was asking about the birds and the bees.”

“OMG so soon?”

“Relax, Bailey. She was worried about the Pelicans.”

“You tell her they are just big fish eaters?”

“Yup. Man look at that flock.”

“Anyway, I also told her to beware of those big bees.”

“What are you looking at Twiggy?”

“I think I see a bee out there Bailey.”

“I don’t think so. That looks like a fly to me.”

“A fly? It’s a pretty big fly.”

Twiggy

“You guys should pay more attention to those flying things.”

“Relax Twiggy. That is a heron. He also eats fish. Not too many dog eaters around here.”

Lucy, Bailey, and Twiggy

“Besides, little one. if someone came after you, they would have to get through Bailey and me first.”

“Aw. That is so comforting. I feel better about the wild things, Lucy.”

“Unless they had a treat to offer.”

“Lucy!”

“Just kidding Bailey. Just kidding.”

  1. I can only imagine what a dog’s first encounter with a pelican would be like.

With these ladies keeping watch, an intruder (human or otherwise) best look elsewhere. Beautiful photos and great dialogue, John.

  4. Ha! Unless they had a treat. I love it.

They look so good together. Good of Lucy to show Twiggy the ropes. None of them look like a bird is gonna swoop down and snag them.

    1. I think they are safe. At least Lucy and Bailey are safe. Of course, Twiggy is putting on the pounds. 😀

  7. Haha. It seems the word ‘treat is magic everywhere. My two grand-dogs, Kooper and Oakley can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a treat.(they are King Charles Cavalier spaniels)

  20. Aw, being a big sis isn’t always easy. Too often, you’re expected to fend off the bad stuff yet get blamed when things don’t go as they should. Lucy and Bailey seem like good big sisters!

  21. Ha, ha! That was cute. Lucy’s such a great big sis. I can see how some big birds would scare a puppy. We have eagles, hawks, and vultures down here and they scare me, let alone my little Pom.

  23. They really are a wonderful trio. Is it my imagination, or is Twiggy developing a bit of tawny color in her coat? She doesn’t seem as pure white as she used to.

    1. She has a toast color running down her back. She also has toast eyelashes, so I think she is turning beige. Her parents are both beige so I think it is going to go that way. Thanks, Linda. 😀
