Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

“Mom. it’s Friday and Lucy won’t play with me.”
“I’m sure she will. Won’t you Lucy?”
“Man. Close my eyes for one second…”

Another week has flown by. At least for me, it has. I guess if I were hanging upside down tied by the ankles, above an alligator pit, I would have a different view of time. As it is the week seemed short. We were happy to have the dining room chairs arrive. Unique fabric (resistant to the man of the house and napalm.) had to be ordered. Hence the delay. The fence measuring person came out and took all the measurements. We are on the schedule for mid-May, but since we already have the permit and survey, we were told there might be an opportunity for earlier. We are not holding our breath.

We’ve had some beautiful rain, so the drought-like conditions are gone. Since we have very little grass, the rain also produces paw prints unless the pooches get a foot wipe each time out. I am the designated foot-wiper.

I managed to get some words written on my WIP, so I am a happy camper.

Today’s JohnKu talks about what makes us happy. I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Happy by John W. Howell © 2019

It’s usually small,

A tiny step improvement. . .

But means everything.

It is amazing how the tiniest, incremental step can preoccupy us humans. But then, the improvement makes a house a home and becomes part of our story, something we can share with friends. I’m looking forward to each of your upcoming stories – always a delight. Perfect JohnKu! 🙂

I love the JohnKu, John. Being the designated foot-wiper is a big responsibility, especially with your beautiful floors. I’m happy to hear you got some rain. We’ve have far more than our share since autumn. Enjoy your day!

Speaking of steps, you’ve reminded me of my favorite quotation from Woody Allen: “The longest journey begins with a single step. The best journeys start with a moment of temporary insanity.”

Sounds like you’re closing in on the finishing touches, John, The girls must be looking forward to the fence.

Wiping dog feet is a year-round occupation here.

We are. I have three temporary barriers up to keep them in the yard. Thei morning the deer jumped one of them and caused a major bark-a-thon. 😀

Congratulations on the end of the drought. It seems you have to pay for it though. There’s always hope your fence will be started mid-May. Have a good weekend. 🙂 — Suzanne

Designated foot-wiper. Ah, the things we do for our dogs. Or maybe it’s the things a man will do for his wife. I’m guessing a bit of both applies.

Fingers crossed you get moved up in the fence schedule.

Wishing you and yours a happy Easter.

I’m the foot wiper, too, and my back tells me either Dallas is shrinking or we’ve been having way more rain than usual! Congrats on squeezing out time for the WIP — sad that other things sometimes have to take priority.

I’ve been the designated eye wiper for about a week. Something about these dogs and the change in seasons makes their eyes goopy.
