Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Twiggy

“It’s Friday. So much to do. So little time.”

“Here, we are again. Having to face another weekend away from our beloved work,” said no one ever. I hope you are looking forward to the weekend. I also hope your week was a good one.

Nothing much going on around here. Just plugging away on the WIP. Last week I finished up at over 61,000 words. This week’s total is over 68,000. That is still on the 1000 word a day goal. I am grateful I can continue the pace and don’t take the productivity for granted. We all know things could get in the way at any time, so I mark it up as a good run so far. It also means I’m about 75% complete on my first draft. Yeah, that feels good.

Today’s JohnKu talks about taking things for granted. I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Grateful by John W. Howell © 2019

We accomplish goals,

And tend to think it’s just us . . .

Fate is there to help.

Haha I have a long weekend off Radius rehearsals but there is no rest for the wicked as my Mum reminded me this morning after I finish relaxing and reading my blog I’ve got to get on with learning my words and music for Romeo and Juliet, I hope fate shows up soon to help get me off the couch 😃.

Hahaha. The life of a star. Hopefully a new set of words and music calling you off the couch forever. Hugs. 😁

Congrats on the progress. I’m sure someone has lamented being away from work. They ended up with a self-hugging jacket, but there had to be someone. 😁

Hahaha. It’s like saying on the deathbed, “I wish I could work more.” Thanks for the laugh. I like the self-hugging jacket term. 😁

Careful saying that phrase. A higher power might be listening and have a plan.

Cheers to progress … and Hey Twiggy – Don’t forget to put away the toys when you are done playing. Oh – I know – you’re not done.

She also tells me she has no opposable thumb so it is pretty hard to pick up the toys. I remind her that the mouth can serve a pick-up function and she just looks at me.

Sounds like great progress, John. It is always good when “those things” don’t happen. I’m poking around looking for yesterday’s post – no email. Have a great Friday and roll into the weekend a little early if you can.

Personally, my struggle’s to keep it from being a three-day weekend. This is forecast to be the hottest day of the year, and I’m not certain anything with AC wouldn’t be better than work. If Fate shows up, I hope she brings clouds! Congrats on your progress — do you ever do weekend work on a WIP if things are going really well?

Thanks, Linda. Yes, I write at least 1000 words a day, seven days a week. Gives me at least 7000 words for the week. I very seldom keep going even if I’m in a groove. I’m pretty lucky in that I can pick up the groove the next day. So I’m like an elephant and lumber as opposed to a sprint. On top of that, I do the blog every day as well so I need to conserve energy (so to speak) 😀

Sounds like you’re making great progress to me. I’m about to lose all my writing time again. I have a housefull of company once more, then I’ll have to dedicate some time to my new release.

What was said, that serves as a source of endless amusement and inspiration for us, is what the dowager countess from the tv show Downton Abbey asked:

    “What is a week-end?”

Three-fours done on the first draft of your WIP?? Awesome, John! I need to be as organized and determined as you are. Odd how things just get in the way — things that need to be done, and I’m the only one who can do them.

Holy Hannah! I could never do even half that, John. That’s an amazing rate of words. Kudos.
Oh, and I love the pink pig toy. I see Twiggy is not short of playthings. 😀 My old friend who lives in the next town commented on Crystal’s gallon ziplock bag of cat ball-toys. She got playful yesterday and even did the “springbok” pounce (all fours in the air at once, then pounce). She hasn’t done that since before all the pre-move chaos set in, back in February when I donated our furniture. She’s 13 now so those moments are cherished. Hugs on the wing.

I used to laugh out loud when our cats did the springbok pounce. Yes at 13 you have to cherish every moment. Thanks for sharing, Teagan.
