Thursday – A Little Personal – Cold, Wet Weather

“Twiggy. You awake?”

“Mrufff mumble.”

Twiggy and Lucy

“I think it is getting late.”

“Uh. Where do we have to be?”

“Well, nowhere, but we can’t sleep on the couch the whole day.”

“Mmmmm. I say we can.”

“Where you going?”

“Gonna go ask dad for the time.”

“Wait up. I’ll go with you.”

“Okay.”

Hey, Dad. What time is it?

“Right now, eleven o’clock. Time for you two to go out.”

“What’s the temp out there?”

“Forty-six degrees,.

“Man, this is cold. Lucy, check the patio. Is it dry?

“I’m going Little One. Why am I always the guinea pig?”

“Twiggy, it’s all wet back here.”

“That’s all I need to know. I’m outa here.”

“Mama, mama, mama. We are dying out here.”

“Good one, Twiggy. I’m sure she will come running now.”

“Lucy. The reason you are the guinea pig is you are so much bigger and braver than me.”

“Save the soft soap for Mama. She’s going to be forced to wipe your paws.”

Twiggy and Lucy

“Wake us in a couple of hours, Dad. Not sure that outing was effective.”

“Will do, Twiggy. I stand to serve.”

  1. The girls sure like to sleep! I wish I could…been up since 2:30. 😦 That’s a big temperature drop, John. It’s coming our way next. Thanks for the smiles this morning!

      2. Yup. Stay low to the floor and put a sign by the doorbell that says, “Please do not ring bell. It is connected to a trap door beow you feet. Dropping through the door is not recommended by anyone but the monster living in the mote below.”

“I stand to serve.” Great line, John. I loved the story. Thursdays always bring delight because of your pup stories. I hope it warms up for you. We’ve been in the 40s as well. 🙂

  6. It’s cooler here this morning, too, and as I arose with the dogs, I thought, “This afternoon could be a great time to grab a nap.” Great minds think alike….😉

  8. I’ve got more in common with the girls than I realized. It’s 48 here right now, with the wind gusting to 46 mph, and I’m thinking, “Maybe I should just go back to bed, where it’s cozy.” Even the couch would do — you have a couple of smart doggies, there.

  9. Sleeping on the couch is a good idea for a cold, rainy day. Meanwhile, do they get outfits for the evening celebration?

  10. I love how Lucy barely changes her position in the first few photos, and Twiggy with the blanket … too cute! The girls have it right. Cold, wet days are best spent dozing. Happy almost Friday, John!

  12. I was surprised to hear that the temperature has gotten so low this early in the year John. It is a tad cooler than our present temperature here in Nova Scotia which is 52 F.
I’ve enjoyed watching Twiggy over the past months. Is she as big as she is going to get?
She seems so little compared to Lucy.

    1. She is full grown now. 20 pounds of bulldog. She is little compared to Lucy. Lucy is four times bigger and three times heavier. Thanks, Lynne.

  14. We also are having a “cold snap!”, It’s 15 degrees right now outside that’s a wee bit warmer than yesterday morning. Today it’s going to hit the mid 50’s. I’ll go outside for a walk this afternoon. Poor girls have to go when it’s really cold in the morning.

I’m glad they have Mama to wipe their paws, and there are nice, soft, warm blankies on the sofas for them. Stay warm and dry!

    1. We have 34 degree temps right now. The rain did stop so we don’t have ice. What a change from the coast. Thanks, Deborah.

  19. This is what we all wanted back in July, isn’t it? But I must admit the girls have the right idea — stay inside where it’s warm and dry. We had SNOW flurries this morning — ’tis far too early for that sort of nonsense!

    1. I agree. The rain on our patio lounges was frozen this morning. Looked like plate glass.

  20. Another delightful visit with the girls, John. I finally had to turn on the heat here this week. Although most days I’ve had to run the air conditioner for an hour or two to cool down the bedroom (it gets blasted by the afternoon sun). Yesterday was the first day this fall that I haven’t used the AC at all. For the first time in over a decade, I’m not in dread of winter weather! LOL. Happy Halloween hugs!

  27. Good grief… it is colder over there than over here! We have a drizzly but mild 63F out there. They are calling for a supposed violet rain storm so many of our towns have pushed Halloween to tomorrow… Can you believe such nonsense? Honestly. What a bunch of wimps.
Meanwhile, the girls have it right. Blankies and naps inside sounds just about right, to me.
