Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy Face a Cold Day

“Hey, dad. What’s the temp like out there?”

“Right now, it’s 47 (8.33 C) degrees. Looks like a high of 49 (9.44 C ).”

“What do you think, Lucy. Play outside?”

“You nuts, Little One? I need 60 (15.5 C) degrees before I go out there.”

“I agree. Gonna take this old lap.”

“I think you are making the right move.”

“You going to nap some more?”

“Yeah. Let me just rest my eyes.”

“How about a game of calamari?”

“Maybe in a few minutes.”

“You two need to get some exercise.”

“Who us?”

“Yeah, you.”

Geez, Mom. That’s a little harsh. It gives me a body image challenge.”

“From where I sit, Lucy, I think mom has a point.”

“Okay, that’s it. You have to the count of three to grab that squid and run for your life.”

  1. I’m with Lucy, but I prefer 80 degrees or more. I think your cold air is coming our way, along with a little snow. Great photos, John!

    1. Good advice, Lori. They did do that yesterday but today is poaring down rain. You can see the claw mark where they were dragged and thrown out the door. 😁

  6. It’s always tough to remain active in the cold. Hope it warms up soon for you.

    1. Looks like next week is as cold then warmer. Of course we are talking 50 degrees of cold which is laughable to the Northerners. 😁

  7. You keep the girls in a cute and actually a logical conversation – but who knew Texas got as cold as 47*F?!! πŸ™‚

    1. We even get freezing temps. Who knew a four hour drive had such different weather. Where we used to live, (On the Gulf coast) is a good ten degrees warmer except in the summer. Then because of the Gulf, ten degrees cooler.

  8. Ha-ha-ha! Wonderful photo session, dear John! Twiggy should be heavy sitting on your knees, shouldn’t she? And Lucy is so charming in her sofa persistence!

    1. Lucy does guard her sofa space. She is not too fussy. 75% of the sofa is fine with her. (lucky we have two) Twiggy is only twenty-two pounds (9.97 kg) so she can sit forever. Thaks, Maria. 😁

      1. Yes, to have two sofas is a very reasonable solution in your case, dear John…otherwise humans would sit right on the floor. πŸ™‚

      2. We would be on the floor for sure. Good think we only have one Lucy.

  16. The girls have the right idea, staying inside with that kind of Texas weather! I love their pink squid. You find them the cutest toys πŸ™‚

  17. Now I want to go home and hang out with my dogs. Twiggy is 20 pounds? I could handle that. Frankie is 55, and Otto is pushing 70. They still sit in my lap, but if they stand up it hurts.

    1. Yeah Lucy is 60 and she likes laptime as well. Each of her paws produce 180 pounds per square inch of force.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Exactly. If they’d just lay there it isn’t a problem. One Otto foot on my thigh feels like it’s going to go through.

  19. Cold… it is so relative, isn’t it? Of course, the girls are used to much warmer climes. Zeke, of course, is a whole ‘nother beast and can’t be compared. He has to drag ME out to play…

    1. I’m sure Zeke is built for the climate. 😁 These two short hairs are definately summer dogs.

  20. It’s a three-dog day down here. I’d say it’s too bad you only have two, but I suspect that pair does a fine job of adding a little warmth to your life — in a lot of ways!

    1. Lucy is the prime heater. Twiggy fills in where she can. Yes they do keep us warm in other ways. Thanks, Linda.

  21. John, the girls are making a whole lot of sense today — cold is cold. Have they asked you to buy them a treadmill yet so they can keep in shape inside? By the way, I love your watch and am especially impressed you’ve got the Dow report on there!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. They have not asked for a treadmill. Yes I love the Apple watch. It has the high, low and present temps. Alos keeps track of my exercise and calorie burn and has about 50 other things that I can call up like body temperature and heartrate. I love it.

  23. The girls are wise. I checked out the weather this morning and it was too cold to go for my walk – in the 50s. (I’m a wimp.) You were lucky to have Twiggy keep you warm. I am ready for warmer weather. The live oak trees are losing their leaves so spring is coming.

  28. Ha! That was a fun visit with the girls, John. Lucy had the right idea, and that’s about how I felt yesterday. Where was my sunshine? It was cold, gray, and windy, plus 60% humidity in a place where half that much is considered extremely high. Today is looking like a repeat. Thanks for this bright spot. Hugs on the wing.
