“Friday is always welcome.”
It is Friday for sure. You can count on me. I looked at the calendar to verify. I just thought about all of the workers who used to go to the workplace. This whole individual isolation thing has given you a shot of what we permanently at home types have been facing for years. Take Friday, for instance. I’m sure it meant some kind of marker that made you feel good to be facing a weekend. Right now, that marker is pretty blurred. Maybe Friday used to be pizza night. Well, no need for that right now. Whatever Friday used to mean, I have faith that sooner or later, it’s meaning will return. Look on the bright side. These days your commute from the bedroom to your workspace is the same even though it’s Friday. On the plus side, you don’t have to sit in traffic looking at someone ahead of you who is towing a boat, obviously heading for a fun weekend on the lake. Yes, there is that.
My WIP (The Eternal Road – The Final Stop) came back from the editor, and I have been working on the synopsis. This requires taking 85,000 plus words and distilling them down to 800. Yeah just shoot me.
I will begin the query process next week. As I’ve said before, I’m not going to take a long time at the query but will give it a shot. The story is very different so who knows.

I have faith too, John. It’s been four weeks since my mother and I have been out shopping and I’ve seen my father…it’s tough, but necessary. Wishing you the best on the query process. I have a good feeling about this! 🙂 Enjoy your Friday.

What’s the worst that can happen? The best part of work Friday was wearing jeans. The best part of wearing jeans was that I could wear truly comfortable shoes.
Maybe wrap up your work a few minutes early today, John. Let the staff get a head start on that run to the virtual beach of pizza parlor. In any case, stay safe and healthy.

I suppose they would not be satisfied with a short teaser. A synopsis sounds more like punishment for talking or texting during class. Now pay attention or else ! Blah blah blah. Sorry teach I can’t hear your from Los Backyard… Stay safe !

John, I’m in the same writer’s spot you are. The manuscript edited & rewritten, and the final email back from the editor. It’s query time. A long wait for responses. Not sure how many agents really take to historical fiction from a newbie writer. Plus, The genre is way down on their lists. SciFi, mystery & thrillers at the top. The synopsis was edited. But, so far agents have only wanted a query letter & 10 or 25 manuscript pages in an email. For me, Fridays and staying home are the same. No major adjustments. Stay safe & well. 📚🎶 Christine

You know, John, I was thinking just before I read this that the only thing I miss about going to work is the drive. I go through lovely treed suburbs and I listen to audio books and it was a pleasant part of my day that I really miss.

When I lived in California, I had a 70 minute commute one way. I pretty much enjoyed the time to think and listen to music so I know what you mean.

What a perfect JohnKu! No truer words were ever written. I totally feel your pain, John. Condensing a story down to just a few hundred words is VERY hard! In fact, it’s harder than writing the book. I wish you the best of luck with your query! I finally have a publisher who has requested my full manuscript. That does not mean they will take it, but it’s the farthest I’ve gotten. So, we shall see.

I’ve done that before and never liked the idea of no response at all. Doesn’t settle well with me, and it isn’t hard to send a form letter.
