“My goodness. There is still dirt here.”
“What Lucy? I can’t hear you.”
“I said there is still dirt by the patio stones.”
“Hold on, I want to see.”
“Okay, go look.”
“Is there a problem with having dirt there?”
“No, it just doesn’t look perfect.”
“The guys aren’t finished with the grass yet, are they?”
“No, there is a whole area that still needs to be done.”
“Well, I’m sure they will get it when they come back.”
“Yeah, I think you are right. We need to avoid it in the meantime.”
“You hear that?”
“Hear what? I didn’t hear anything.”
“I think there is something behind the fence.”
“Don’t be silly. I’m sure it’s nothing.”
“I’m going to stand by in case there is a need to put up a warning.”
“Why don’t you go ahead and bark your head off. You know you want to.”
“I need to save those barks for an emergency. You know there are still wild animals out there.”
“I’m going inside. Stay on guard Gunga Din.”

I’ve got the feeling Twiggy senses (actually knows) there is a deer on the other side of the fence. Is the sod all in? Water, water, water.

The sod is about 60% done. Yes, water, water, water. The water company just sent us a fruit basket. Thanks, Frank. She has been tracking the neighbor’s cat for the last two days. Why? Who knows.

A Gunga Din reference always is in order. I couldn’t help remembering these lines (with apologies to Rudyard):
“Though I’ve fussed at you and ‘stayed’ you,
By the livin’ Gawd that made you,
You’re a better dog than I am, Gunga Din!”

Good morning, John!
That new grass reminds me, that two years ago I asked how much it would be to replace our lawn [which on the one hand has at least four different grasses and – on the other hand – has a fungus that slowly destroys the St. Augustin]. When ha called me back his first question was, “Are you sitting?” Well, I asked him anyway, even if I wasn’t, and the answer was $90,000 – and that even if I had not considered all of our lawn. ell, the long and the short of it: we’re still keeping our “meadow”. 😉
Have a wonderful day,
Pit

Yes i don’t blame you. $90K sounds a little steep. Of course if you land barons want the space you’ll have to put up with meadow. 😁I am replacing the St. Augustine with Zorro Zoysia. Need a lawn that can take traffic, sun, and drought.

Well, Mary, as a farmer’s daughter, would definitely not mind. But I don’t really like them. So I think it’s good that a covenant we had to accept when we bought the property excludes keeping animals.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hahahaha. Turn the deer into the property owners association.
LikeLike
Well, there’s no HOA here. We never wanted a place that’s under their rules. The covenant is between our neighbour, who – together with her now deceased husband – owned all the property and, understandably, doesn’t like farm animals as neighbours. Luckily, der are not covered by the covenant.

I have to agree… that fence is gorgeous. I’ve got a bloody cedar hedge – again. Ugh. Requires too much maintenance and I didn’t want one but they are everywhere!
I have not had a guard dog in a long time… Zeke thinks everyone is welcome. He only “warns” me with a muffled “hmmph” if I don’t get up as fast as he’d like when the doorbell rings!
I love how you keep us entertained with Twiggy and Lucy’s antics.
