Thursday – A Little Personal – Admirals Twiggy and Lucy Explore the North Pole.

Sorry everyone, but this post got hung up in the snow. I have no idea why it didn’t post. Well, here it is.

“Gee Lucy, What do you think?”

“I think we ought to go inside.”

“But we came to explore the wilderness. To go where no dog has gone before.”

“I know, but it is so cold up here in the North.”

“Well, here goes. I need to get moving. One small step for a pup.”

“Be careful, Little One. Stay in touch.”

“One giant leap for dog kind.”

“I’m going to the control center. See ya.”

“I think I am on to the scent of a polar bear.”

“Don’t be tangling with something you don’t understand. How do you know it’s a Polar bear?

“I’m not sure, but this smells like what I think a polar bear should smell like. I’ll explore more.”

“Okay, but stay in touch. If you need me, just yell.”

“Will do. Now, admiral, Twiggy sets off to find the true North Pole.”

“I can hardly hear you. Speak up.”

Admiral Twiggy and the team approach what looks to be a camp set up at the North Pole. Could be a camp left by Robert Peary.”

“Who?”

“Robert Peary is the guy who went to the North Pole in 1909 and was the first person there.”

“You been watching the History Channel again?”

“Animal Planet. Hold on. The snowy puma just spotted some game.”

“Quit playing around. My feet are cold, and I’m not even out there with you. Come back.”

“I was kidding about the snowy puma.”

“No kidding. I don’t even think there is such an animal.”

“You ready to go in?”

“I sure am. Do dogs drink hot chocolate?”

“Only if they want to get sick.”

“Yes, I’m ready to go in. I don’t think the explorer’s life is for me. Maybe in South America, though.”

  2. Snow is very difficult for dogs; all the smells they know are covered. Ours spend ages rediscovering their surroundings.

  6. Admiral Twiggy surveys the yard like the kid in the Family Circus. Good action show of the snowy puma, John. I’d forward that to NatGeo.

I hope this means you have power and heat for the girls (The Producer and yourself, too).

    Stay safe.

“a camp set up at the North Pole” – quite a few times in the last few days I felt it might be warmer there than it was here. πŸ˜€
“Do dogs drink hot chocolate?” – Have you ever thought of serving them a hot toddy in such a weather? πŸ˜€ But come to think of it, that might not be such a good idea either.
    Well, stay warm and healthy,

  15. At least the water in the bird bath was liquid this morning, and the sidewalks are mostly dry. We sure didn’t get as much snow as you did, but the neighborhood dogs seem just as eager to go inside as Twiggy and Lucy. Exploring’s fine, but it’s better above freezing.

It’s been snowing for the last five hours in my corner of the world and is expected to go until 7PM tonight. My cat Raven is curled up on my lap (making it very difficult to type). But, come to think of it, I haven’t seen any of the local pups out for the last several days, either. I went out to feed the squirrels and birds this morning and got hit on the head with an icicle falling off the roof! 29 more days ’til SPRING!

      2. Good motto. I tried that with a college professor once. He grabbed my paper and marked it with “Better late than never and it better be good.” Got a B for lateness which was a mark down from an A . He wrote “Excellent work too bad you have no time management skills.” Got a big laugh and was never late again.
