Thursday – A Little Personal – Admirals Twiggy and Lucy Explore the North Pole.

Sorry everyone, but this post got hung up in the snow. I have no idea why it didn’t post. Well, here it is.

“Gee Lucy, What do you think?”

“I think we ought to go inside.”

“But we came to explore the wilderness. To go where no dog has gone before.”

“I know, but it is so cold up here in the North.”

“Well, here goes. I need to get moving. One small step for a pup.”

“Be careful, Little One. Stay in touch.”

“One giant leap for dog kind.”

“I’m going to the control center. See ya.”

“I think I am on to the scent of a polar bear.”

“Don’t be tangling with something you don’t understand. How do you know it’s a Polar bear?

“I’m not sure, but this smells like what I think a polar bear should smell like. I’ll explore more.”

“Okay, but stay in touch. If you need me, just yell.”

“Will do. Now, admiral, Twiggy sets off to find the true North Pole.”

“I can hardly hear you. Speak up.”

Admiral Twiggy and the team approach what looks to be a camp set up at the North Pole. Could be a camp left by Robert Peary.”

“Who?”

“Robert Peary is the guy who went to the North Pole in 1909 and was the first person there.”

“You been watching the History Channel again?”

“Animal Planet. Hold on. The snowy puma just spotted some game.”

“Quit playing around. My feet are cold, and I’m not even out there with you. Come back.”

“I was kidding about the snowy puma.”

“No kidding. I don’t even think there is such an animal.”

“You ready to go in?”

“I sure am. Do dogs drink hot chocolate?”

“Only if they want to get sick.”

“Yes, I’m ready to go in. I don’t think the explorer’s life is for me. Maybe in South America, though.”

  1. Admiral Twiggy surveys the yard like the kid in the Family Circus. Good action show of the snowy puma, John. I’d forward that to NatGeo.

I hope this means you have power and heat for the girls (The Producer and yourself, too).

    Stay safe.

  2. I’m so glad you have two warm furry pups to protect you and the producer from the cold. And to top it off, they entertain with their stories of imaginary adventures. 😁

  3. I’ll bet that snow is something you don’t see very often! How’s your power?
All of my dogs LOVED the snow, except for the last and the smallest. She got too cold, even with a coat on!

  4. It sure looks nice in your yard, John. 🙂
“a camp set up at the North Pole” – quite a few times in the last few days I felt it might be warmer there than it was here. 😀
“Do dogs drink hot chocolate?” – Have you ever thought of serving them a hot toddy in such a weather? 😀 But come to think of it, that might not be such a good idea either.
    Well, stay warm and healthy,
    Pit

  5. Well done, John! The good thing is, your snow will be gone before long, leaving only the memory of its misery. Here, we endure it for months on end. I hope Twiggy let you towel off her feeties when she got inside!

  6. Twiggy looks like she’s having such a grand time. I hope you have power and water. Way down here, we got a dusting overnight. Several inches the first round. I hope whatever came through last night wears itself out before it reaches you. Stay safe and well. Hugs on the wing!

  7. At least the water in the bird bath was liquid this morning, and the sidewalks are mostly dry. We sure didn’t get as much snow as you did, but the neighborhood dogs seem just as eager to go inside as Twiggy and Lucy. Exploring’s fine, but it’s better above freezing.

  8. Twiggy has quite the adventurous spirit, but I bet she’ll be glad when all that snow is gone! It’s been snowing for the last five hours in my corner of the world and is expected to go until 7PM tonight. My cat Raven is curled up on my lap (making it very difficult to type). No exploring the North Pole for her, LOL!

  10. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr … I’m glad at least you didn’t lose your electricity as much of the state has done! I thought the pups would be out running ‘n romping in the snow! But, come to think of it, I haven’t seen any of the local pups out for the last several days, either. I went out to feed the squirrels and birds this morning and got hit on the head with an icicle falling off the roof! 29 more days ’til SPRING!

  11. I just played hooky from work to get my Thursday Lucy and Twiggy fix. I had to start work without it this morning, and I was thrown completely off my game.

I thought the puma might put in an appearance, just in snowy guise!

        1. Good motto. I tried that with a college professor once. He grabbed my paper and marked it with “Better late than never and it better be good.” Got a B for lateness which was a mark down from an A . He wrote “Excellent work too bad you have no time management skills.” Got a big laugh and was never late again.

  12. Oh, Lucy is so cunny, dear John! Congratulations for Twiggy! It has been a giant leap for the dog kin indeed! The Twiggy Resort makes true brave heroes & they deserve some doggy mulled wine or at least a bowl of some pretty black tea. I like Twiggy’s creativity in any weather. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  13. Great lines for the girls! Loved the way you wove history into it. Had me going with the polar bear. It was beautiful. We only got a slight dusting a few days ago. Still have power and water but we have to boil. We had plenty of bottled water and essentials. Hard freeze expected tonight again. Looking forward to warmer weather! I know Austin has really been hit. Hang in there, John!

  14. I’m glad you have a sense of humor about your snow and your cold John as well as your two girls! Been thinking of you and the Texas freeze. I have a good friend from North Carolina who drove to visit her son in Austin and then they got stuck there – no power and Brrr brrr brrr

    1. Yeah we are lucky we only had rolling blackouts. Three hours on two hours off. We live in a new house so the insulation is better than most. Thanks for the concern and I hope your friend gets out of there. 😁

  15. I think the snow puma is best to stay inside and play weather forecaster. I don’t think she’s digging the idea of being a semi-arctic explorer, and you know, I can’t blame her.

  16. Are they used to the snow, or is this crazy storm totally out of character? I always wonder what is going on in an animal’s head when they’re experiencing something new.

  17. It would be boring if all dogs thought and acted alike. We have friends visiting family in Texas right now. I’m sure they hadn’t counted one this.

  18. haha its a bit crazy to see as much snow outside of your house as here, in Sweden 🙂 but I guess its gone already… we are in the middle of it all right now – water is everywhere, difficult for the dogs 😶

  19. My daughter has a border doodle, Rosie, and she didn’t know what to think of the snow. But as long as the kids were out in it, she romped with them. 🙂 Twiggy was very brave!
