Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Here it is. Another Friday just waiting to open the door to Saturday. Always happy to see Friday here.

Not too much news to report. I was happy that the city of Lakeway is having some events in support of shark week. The one that I like is another scavenger hunt in the park, which I will report on Sunday’s Views of the Neighborhood.

Friday, August 6 – Thursday, August 12

Shark in the Park Scavenger Hunt

Shark fins are hidden across Lakeway City Park. Can you find them all?

I will not be participating in the contest part. I wouldn’t want to take away an award from a child entering the contest.

I did a feature on Rhythm & Reels; you can go HERE if you want to see it. This week is the third event in the series.

Friday, August 6 Rhythm & Reels Location: Lakeway Swim Center

7:30 PM Free Yard Games and Hot Dogs Live Music by Vision Arcade

8:45 PMย Movie – The Meg

Watch the movie from the pool! (Sure you will)

Sunday, August 8

Shark Pool Party at Lakeway Swim Center

Shark-themed games, photo ops, prizes, and RIDE A SHARK from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM!

I hope you’ll join me on Sunday for Views of the Neighborhood. Today’s JohnKu talks about avoiding the news. I hope you have a great weekend.

  5. Congratulations, John! Your city management has wonderful ideas. Wish ours also would have. But here they are only offering homebrewed beer. ;-( Have a wonderful weekend, and a lot of fun, collecting the shark finns. Maybe Lucy and Twiggy can serve as sniffer dogs. ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx Michael

    1. I would like the nomebrewed beer but I am glad the city does so much. Twiggy and Lucy would love to help. Thanks, Michael. Have a super weekend.

    1. Don’t worry. I don’t need to go airborne and then connect with the ground no matter how soft. I would be a bag of bones for sure. ๐Ÿ™„

  8. One of our local TV stations has been running blurbs in their app that begin with a headline (man dies in crash) and end with something like โ€œcome see what we know.โ€ Itโ€™s almost always nothing more than the fact that a man died in the crash. It seems like all the โ€œnewsโ€ in in the headline. The stories are opinion pieces or much more wordy versions of the headline.

    Speaking of wordyโ€ฆ

I hope you have a great weekend, John. Iโ€™m looking forward to Sundayโ€™s views.

    1. I wish there was news that had some element of objectivity. All that is gone and the media is one big bicker fest. Have a super weekend, Dan

      2. They are all rolling around and restless anyway. Good idea, Dan.

  9. When the point of the ‘news’ appears to be nothing more than keeping the populace stirred up, angry, and confused, it’s time to swim with the sharks. They’re less dangerous.

    1. I agree, Linda. We have some very concerning trends that no one is talking about and I am tired of listening to the rabble babble. Have a great weekend. ๐Ÿ˜

One of your best haikus, John. Maybe you can share it with the networks. ๐Ÿ˜Š It seems they’ve all lost their minds and unfortunately, their souls as well. Thank goodness neighborhoods are finding ways to celebrate life. Your community’s festivity has to be one of the most original ever. Have fun from the sidelines and laugh a lot this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜

  16. Great JohnKu! I, too, try to avoid network news (though I find myself watching local news on occasion). I just don’t like how I feel when I watch all those talking heads screaming at each other. Your shark activities sound interesting, particularly since there’s little chance a real shark will show up, right??

  23. Looking forward to Sunday … I’ll be there with bells on. I do hope, though, that you aren’t planning to serve a shark-themed meal. I tried shark meat one time when I worked at Honda and went out to dinner with some of the Japanese associates. Once was enough. ๐Ÿคข

Trying to get a source of reliable news is certainly a challenge nowadays. Things are definitely moving in the wrong direction here with the virus. In the last two days, we’ve had our highest reported cases ever. Mandatory mask use starts again tomorrow. Here we go again. How many times before people will take this seriously?
