Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy Survey the Rain Effects

“Whoa. Look at the stuff on the porch.”

“I know, Little One. You should see the stuff on the grass.”

“That’s a lot of leaves.”

“You’re not kidding. The boss better gets to work.”

“Look at the rocks. They are wet.”

“So’s the patio.”

“How much rain did we get?”

“Not much. I would say a half-inch. It was the wind that caused all the tree stuff to fall.”

“What are you looking at for heaven’s sake?”

“I’m not sure. It’s not moving, though.”

“What now?”

“I thought I saw something scurry under the lounge.”

“Before I run over there, it is a false alarm?”

“I’m afraid so. It was a leaf that turned over.”

“Well. I’m heading back in. Nothing is interesting out here.”

“You have to keep your eyes open. There are interesting things everywhere. Check out this stick.”

“Come on, Lucy. All this stuff is just normal.”

“You need to think differently, Little One. Almost everything is special if you look closely.”

Oh, wait. This stick taste like bacon.”

“See what did I tell you?”

“I might have exaggerated a little.”

“But you are trying.”

  1. “I might have exaggerated a little” – perfect line, John. 😁 I love the adventure and the message. I’m still getting used to rocks in our yard, but it’s best for all of us and your yard looks beautiful. Have a great day!

  2. Lucy sounds like a Zen master. I love her perspective about looking at things.
Not sure about the bacon bit, though. Twiggy still has her work cut out for her, LOL!

  3. Aha! They are learning to look at things like Einstein quoted: “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle.”

Always a joy to see these two in action!

  4. Man, I’ve missed me some Twiggy and Lucy, being so far behind on blog visits and all. SO glad I found a minute to stop by today. They never fail to make me smile, John! Such good doggies!!

Thanks for sharing their exciting(?) morning adventures. (Hey, everything is relative. Now that the dachsies have both gone to that Great Backyard in the Sky, we have only four very lazy cats to entertain us. 😄)

      1. Indeed they are. Ours are not ALWAYS lazy, especially the two younger ones. But when they tire out, it’s a whole ‘nuther story. Nothing on this earth can relax like a cat!! 😄

  5. Did you get some rain Tuesday night, John? Here in Vnderpool we had a short but heavy downpour. The Sabinal even rose a few inches. It’ll be interesting to check our rain gauge in Fredericksburg when we’re back.
    Have a great day,

  6. There’s nothing more exciting than a “leaf that turned over” or is it turning over a new leaf? 🙂 I love, “this stick tastes like bacon.” What an imagination Twiggy has. Cute post, John! And we have a lot of work to do on the weekend, too. Those leaves…sigh.

      1. They love us unconditionally and they become like our children. What a sweet site. Tim is a great guy as he is always hooking people up to new folks that are entertaining. Have a blessed day. 🤗❤️

        1. I just left your site and thought you photos were wonderful. The Haiti photos are so typical of the country. On one hand you have a whimsical color scheme and on the other complete destruction. Great work.

  8. I’m delighted to see your magnolia tree looking so fine, John! And yes, it appears you got a lot of wind. Better than the tornadoes that blew through a bit farther to your south. Now, if you need some more rain, just say the word, and I’ll try to ship you some of our excess!

  9. Twiggy is clever waiting to see if it’s worth coming all the way across the lawn to check it out or not.

Lucy is so cute…”you’re trying”! Love that line!

I bet the plants loved the rain though. Your yard looks nice and tidy.

  10. “a leaf that turned over.”… That is an amazingly poignant find Lucy made.
(please let me have got names correct, this time!)
A bacon stick…. now that is marketable!
