Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy, Lucy, and the Wildebeest

“What’s up, Little one?”

“Dad printed off a picture of a Wildebeest.”

“Okay. Why so glum?”

“I thought it was going to be an awesome monster.”

“Well, the Wildebeest is pretty fierce.”

“Looks like a skinny water buffalo.”

“Oh, come on. Did you see those razor-sharp horns?”

“Well, I suppose those could be pretty formidable. Let’s go out and find one.”

“I’ll take a stroll and see if I can lure one out.”

“You better be careful. I had a second look, and skinny translates into fast.”

“So far, nothing, Little One.”

“Go into the rocks. Maybe they lurk there.”

Okay, I’m headed that way. Keep your eyes open while I’m gone.”

“You don’t have to tell me. I’m a highly honed watchdog.”

“Hey, who put that flower here?”

“I can’t hear you.”

“Mmm, smells like cloves. Must be a dianthus.”

“Hey, Twiggy. There’s nothing here. Go around to the other side of the house. I thought I heard the sound of hooves.”

“Nothing here, Lucy. I don’t hear anything either.”

“The Wildebeest sniffs the air. She can detect a small animal upwind. Too soon to say if it is the puma. It will be only a matter of time until the battle takes place that will settle the territorial dispute forever.”

“Lucy, what are you doing?”

“Rehearsing, Little One. Just rehearsing.”

  1. I had an image of Teddy Roosevelt showing up on hie horse, Little Texas, to give them pointers.

I love how they, with your help of course, amuse themselves. Only the 4-legged know how to live and enjoy themselves in the moment, the waggy tailed teachers that they are.

    I always look forward to Lucy and Twiggy’s Thursday’s escapade. I see a book series…Wildebeest Publications 🙂

    1. Twiggy and Lucy have a knack of leisure enjoyment. I feel fortunate I’m along with the camera. They always amaze me when they stop to smell the flowers. It is something they do quite often. I like the name of the publisher. Thanks for the smiles, Susannah. 😁

  2. Thanks for sharing the girls, John. I always enjoy seeing them and listening to their conversation. 🙂
Wildebeest does sound like a fierce animal, and I bet they can be while defending themselves.
The divine flowers are beautiful. ❤

  3. That wildebeest best be careful roaming around your place. You seem to have a number of wry cartoon figures lurking around with some pretty sophisticated gadgets at their disposal.

  4. LOL!! Twiggy should be rehearsing too.

I love the table setting. Especially those Gingko leaf napkin rings!! I miss our Gingko tree. I don’t think they do well here. I think I’ll search for some napkin rings. That’ll keep me off the wildebeest radar too. 😃

  5. There are no sighted wildebeests or pumas in our area today, John. However, I wonder how the girls would react to a family of rabbits which suddenly emerged here in the last couple of days. They burst out of the bushes and ran off when I accidentally came upon them. The whole incident made my hare stand on end!

  6. You can’t fool those girls, they know a real wildebeest from a print! I think Twiggy really prefers sniffing the flowers and sending Lucy out to hunt. But now for sure they know what to look for. And Lucy is ready to narrate any battles. Good one.

  7. Lucy, you are the clever one. You convinced Twiggy that the Wildebeest was indeed dangerous, and then you have your own Wildebeest rehearsal. I’m looking forward to the battle. Twiggy, beware.

  8. Oh, Wildebeest of the Twiggy Resort! What could it be, indeed? Twiggy must investigate the case. Detective Sherlock Twiggy & Lucy Watson are on guard!
Thank you for the report, dear John! :-)🍤🍤🍤🍻
