“What’s up with the wire.”
“That is your new railing.”

“Railing? Why do I need a new railing.”
“Did you notice something?”

“Notice what?”
“You can’t jump off the porch anymore.”

“Hey, wait a minute. How do I get to the yard?”
“Look behind you. There’s a gate.”

“Hold on. The latch is too tall for me.”
“Wonder why?”

“Does this mean I have to ask you to open it?”
“That is how it works.”

“Hold on, Dad. I’m used to bolting off the porch at high speed.”
“And that is exactly how you injured your leg.”

“I don’t want to go through that again.”
“We are going to ensure there’s no more porch leaping.”

“I suppose it is for the best.”
“I’m glad you see it our way.”

“So I go through the gate and down the steps.”
“You got it. It won’t happen until you’re cleared by the doctor, though.”

“In the meantime, I hear something like the call of the treat.”
“I think we might be able to answer the call.”

Good work, Daddy.

Me too, Jaye. She definitely needs to get out and exercise. We’ll know more after the x-rays and exam on the 20th of December. Thanks.

Interesting how a treat soothes Twiggy railing about the railing. It appears she’s making progress! 🙂

Oh, no more porch leaping. Please tell Twiggy I know how she feels. Also mention, most female French movie stars have clauses in their contract that say, they can’t do their own stunts, they’re much too important. Just ask Catherine Deneuve. 🙂

I should have used that line, Susannah. I think she would have accepted it better.

You might still if she figures out a way to hoodwink that railing or convince Cheeseburger to loosen a coupla slats.

That’s a good-looking railing. Beauty and utility, all in one protective package. I suspect there has been a certain level of frustration on Twiggy’s part. Thank goodness for treats!

Her look was priceless when her ball bounced off the lowest wire. One of her games was letting the ball roll off the porch and the barking for me to go get it.

What a good thought to install a railing, although Twiggy’s response is measured. Her expressions are so cute! The idea of a treat to soothe the savage beast is perfect!

While the fun of bolting off the porch at high speed is now a happy memory, at least Twiggy knows that’s what got her injured in the first place. Hey, stalking water buffalo requires no bolting, and might be fun when she’s cleared.

No a crew came in and did the work. Lots of welding which is not in my wheelhouse.

I bet you could make a funny story about welding. Did you have to wait long for the service? Here, it’s hard to get anything done in what seems a reasonable time frame, from ordering parts for a home to getting doc appointments with specialists. A sign of the times, I guess.
