Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy Rain Day

“It’s still raining.”

“Yes, that is true, but it’s supposed to stop later.”

“How much later?”

“Let’s see. It looks like, after one o’clock, it will be light. You can go out then.”

“Paaallleeze. After one, I’ll have died from terminal boredom.”

“Oh, come on. You have enough toys to last several days. Go get the hedgehog burrow toy.”

“Okay, here it is. I already pulled out one of the little hedgehogs.”

“So there are two more. Get them out, too.”

“That’s one. No use hiding hedgehog. You gotta come out.”

“Now you’re talking.”

“I think a little tooth work is better than talking.”

“I have to agree.”

“Ha, so there it is. The last hedgehog.”

“You did it. Now go chase the burrow.”

“Nice throw, Dad. Under the couch for a degree of difficulty of 11 on a ten scale.”

“Sorry about that, but taking photos and throwing are not compatable actions.”

“Have no fear. The puma is here. Got the burrow from its burrow.”

“Good joke. Where are you going to take it?”

“Back to you, of course. You need the tossing practice.”

“You want the hedgehogs back in the toy?”

“I think an empty toy is enough of a challenge for you today.”

“Very funny.”

  1. Raining is a bummer for walking but necessary for the ground. Playing with your toys helps you work out some of your pent-up energy!
Haha! Love the second photo of Twiggy!

  2. Twiggy’s like a kid who can’t go outside and play because of the rain. Bond can go on the screened porch here, but because of the drastic change in temps, there’s condensation everywhere. He doesn’t like getting his paws wet, lol.

  3. As someone entirely out of the doggie orbit, I’m always surprised by the toys that are available out there. The hedgehogs and their burrow are fun; clearly, Twiggy thinks so, too. It’s so good to see her able to play again.

  4. It’s hard to keep a busy mind…well…busy. Hope the rain lets up Twiggy so you can get some outside stimulation. Next time ask your dad to hide treats. It’s more fun than having to chase after hedgehogs so go under the couch.

    1. I get that. My daughters doberman tries to find the squeaker and then swallows them. Finally stopped all toys that have squeakers or can be tron apart. Twiggy just likes to pull little ones out of bigger ones.

    1. She got both. Thanks, Noelle. There isn’t much that is what could be considered a self entertainment toy. The peanut butter lick pad is close but she can’t have that everyday and keep her girlish figure.

  5. Poor Twiggy. Monk (and I) empathize. It’s hard entertaining a pup in this rainy weather (of which we’ve had far too much lately!). At least she’s willing — and able — to play once again. That’s progress, right?!

  6. “Paaallleeze. Please tell Twiggy, I’m stealing that. Rainy days can really depress a girl. It’s teeming here too in old New York. It’s the kind of rain that finds you even with boots and an umbrella.

Maybe Twiggy needs a good book, or how bout watching a flick? What bout Turner and Hooch with Tom Hanks? That’s one of my favorites. And don’t forget John, this is very important…don’t forget the popcorn, preferably air popped. Better for our waistlines. 🙂

    1. A great suggestion, Susannah. She loves to watch animals and would do it constantly if it weren’t for the screen rules at our house. She also loves popcorn and as you suggest it has to be without butter or oil. Thanks for the visit.

  7. I assume when that stuffie first went under the couch not only did Twiggy announce extra credit for you on the degree of difficulty… she also said to herself “Challenge accepted!” Pumas know no other way.🙂

    1. She would go through a screen door to chase something. That couch deal was a no brainer for sure. She was giving me a hard time for the lousy throw. and a bid for extra credit as you say. Thanks, Bruce.

  8. I love her expressions, John. I remember lots of “Bad throw, Dad” looks over the years and four dogs. I was also very bag at guessing when they were done. You know, the last throw you have to go pick up yourself.

  9. Dogs and rain–a love-hate! It’s been raining for days here but husby managed to find the only 45 minutes when it stopped to walk our Casey. Amazing. He’s so much more behaved after a walk.
