“I’m ready for our walk, Dad.”
“It is nice and cool, so we can take a long one.”

“Yeah, I need to stretch my legs for sure.”
“Okay, but remember, no barking at deer or cars.”

“I know, I know. Let’s get going. I see movement.”
“Right behind you.”

“The cheetah spots what could be a delicious lunch.”
“You talking to me?”

“The cheetah is downwind of its prey. It suspects nothing.”
“Oh, I get it. You are a cheetah-like the sweater.”

“Dad. For heaven’s sake. The cheetah stalks the buck and gets ready to spring.”
“I don’t know about springing. You are on a leash.”

“Dad, shush. Turning, the cheetah sees more of the herd. Today is a feast day.”
“Whatever.”

“The decision is made. The straggler will be the target.
“You better hurry. That one looks fast.”

“I’m ignoring you, Dad. The deer have taken to the high ground in fear of the cheetah.”
“I think they are laughing at you.”

“The cheetah roars the warning that there will be another day.”
“And the deer shout down, ‘Bring it on, cheetah breath.'”

“Well, that was fun. I liked that last line about bringing it on. You might be able to play after all.”
“I don’t know, Little One. I think you might need someone your own size.”

That reminds of a walk in France, when Ulysse and Trevor saw some deer and gave chase into dense woodland. They eventually came back, half an hour later, exhausted but (as far as we could tell) unsuccessful in their ‘hunt’. Had we known they’d go off like that, we would have kept them on their leads, too!

Twiggy would do the same thing. My fear is the Buck would be forced to stand his ground. Better to keep her contained. Thanks, Keith.

That looks like an exciting walk. Good thing the cheetah didn’t accept the challenge though.

Miss. Twiggy… you are brave and bold and fending off the cold in that fashion finery! BTW were those deer on someone’s porch? if so, perhaps you could entice them to come to YOU!!! ❤

Yes, Miss Annette. The deer were on their porch. I suppose I could but Mom insists I leave them alone when they visit my porch. Such temptation. 😊

If it wasn’t for the leash, I’d bet on the cheetah. Nonetheless, I’m sure she loved the encounter! Did you notice the second image of the deer from above – the one on the right … the tree looks like antlers!
LikeLiked by 3 people
I did notice that and had to take a double look. The buck that was down the street hangs with this group but a little too lazy to go up on top. (so to speak)

Honestly, I’m of a divided mind about living with so many deer. I like them, but eventually there are going to be too many. That said — what cheetah wouldn’t adore such a prey-rich environment? This cheetah probably doesn’t understand that the leash is her best friend!
LikeLiked by 2 people
This cheetah would be all over those deer if she was allowed. The deer don’t cause much hardship since everyone seems to know what plants to put out that are deer resistant. I will be doing a feature soon about folks that insist on planting things that deer love. They have to go to extensive measures to protect their plants, Seems futile to me.

It’s so lovely to see deer in neighborhoods. They seem unafraid of the baby cheetah, comfortable enough to visit their human friends. That has to be frustrating for the baby cheetah. I suspect she may need some extra attention today. 😊

So true. The cheetah would like to run and have her way with them. I’ll give her an extra treat to make up. 😁

Twiggy considered this a trial run. She could feel a slight slackening on the leash, but didn’t want to push it. Last thing she needs is to make a decision to either get her prey or run home and get mom.

So true, Lois. I think she would like to run with the big dogs but her stick-in-the-mud parents forbid it.

I love when she is in play mode! Of course she’s a cheetah in that sweater, but an adorable one. Probably not what she wants to hear when she’s in prey mode, but it had to be said. ❤️
And I can’t believe how close you are able to get to the deer!

We normally walk by them and they are fine. I think it was the cheetah coat that caused them to wonder. Of course, having Twiggy in stalk mode didn’t help either. Thanks, Mae. 😁

That is a handful of deer! And yes you can see them laughing at dear cheetah Twiggy. However, they could have good reason to be afraid of this cheetah – fierce if left off her leash of steel. 🙂 But seriously, once when I was walking my golden Tory, she sussed out a deer and began to chase her. But the deer was a new mom protecting her kiddies, and Mama turned and chased Tory, hitting her head on. Tory was lifted up high, and then fell hard. I was afraid she was dead. I screamed at Mama deer like a cheetah, and she moved on. And Tory lived to tell the tale.
