Views of the Neighborhood – Carol Williard van Ginkel – Needle Painting

Today, we are visiting an exhibition of Needle paintings by Lakeway artist Carol Williard van Ginkel. Needle painting is a process using needles, thread, and multicolored string to produce a work of art.

Carol learned to embroider from her grandmother, who taught her to cross-stitch. She became interested in Needle painting and fell in love with it. The exhibit shows her progress over the last seven years.

We are catered by Bouldin Creek Cafe in Austin. Our entertainment is Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and Dolly Parton

I love it. Carol Williard van Ginkel is very talented. She should be very proud of herself. It takes a lot of zen patience to make those paintings.

Beautiful, John, thank you for this!

  7. Her artwork is stunning, John. Thanks for bringing us along with you.

I’ll go with the Predictable Breakfast. I’d hate to have them run out of tofu, so I’ll stick with eggs.

  9. I’m not sure this art form would be something I’d enjoy doing, but it looks as if she has a nice flair for it. I’m especially enamored of the two fish and the ponies. Hope your Sunday was restful!
