Views of the Neighborhood – Lakeway Spikeball Day

Today, we are going to Lakeway Park for Spikeball Day. What is Spikeball? (Or Roundball as it is known too)  It is a game with four players, a ball, and a trampoline. The idea is to bounce the ball off the trampoline toward the opposite two-person team. They have to return it back by bouncing it off the trampoline. If you want to know more, here is a link. https://spikeball.com/pages/official-rules

We are catered by Odd Duck of Austin. Our entertainment is (who else) Spike Jones.

I’m hearing about this game for the first time, John! But it seems to be very entertaining.Tempeste looks rather like she wants to bite one of the balls;-) I hope you are enjoying a nice weekend! Best wishes, Michael

The look on that first dog seems to say, “Humans just don’t understand playing with a ball.” I’d never heard of spikeball before today, John. Always good to learn something new.

I’ll go with the cast iron cheddar cornbread and eggplant – I might not finish the eggplant. Followed by that strip steak. Curious how the tater tots got in there, but good to see them.

Tater tots are always welcome. Makes for a good excuse to have them. (Well, they were part of the meal)

Never heard of this one. Maybe it can replace break dancing at the Olympics.

This answers a question I had this week. There’s a bunch of boxes of Spikeball sets in my school’s cafeteria and I had no idea what it was. Only half the boxes were visible, so it only said ‘Spike’ from what I saw. Thought it was something involving sharp objects like lawn darts.

The real name of the game is Round Ball (odd cause all balls are round)The company that makes the equipment has the name Spikeball.

Pawsome game day pics! I think that game is for people much younger than me. I got winded just thinking about how much running is involved by the participants. 🙂

Reading over your comments, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one for whom this is a new game! I don’t see any “mature” folks out there, so I am assuming it’s a game for the young’uns? Anyway, the mascot looks pretty happy with how things are going, and I’m happy Tempeste got a closeup of the equipment.

    Spikeball! Not Spitball.

My eyes are as creative as I am. I read Spitball, then saw Spikeball, which I’ve never heard of.

All in all another great day in Lakeway.

    Was Twiggy there too?

    I’ll try the cornbread dish!

    Thanks John!

Imma have the ceviche and Tagliatelle por favor. And then I’m going to watch people play one of the craziest things I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Spikeball is nutso, and I would never venture into a game for fear my glasses would be lost. But as a spectator? Yeah, I’ll cozy up with Tempeste.
