Today, we are going to Lakeway Park for Spikeball Day. What is Spikeball? (Or Roundball as it is known too) It is a game with four players, a ball, and a trampoline. The idea is to bounce the ball off the trampoline toward the opposite two-person team. They have to return it back by bouncing it off the trampoline. If you want to know more, here is a link. https://spikeball.com/pages/official-rules
We are catered by Odd Duck of Austin. Our entertainment is (who else) Spike Jones.

The look on that first dog seems to say, “Humans just don’t understand playing with a ball.” I’d never heard of spikeball before today, John. Always good to learn something new.
I’ll go with the cast iron cheddar cornbread and eggplant – I might not finish the eggplant. Followed by that strip steak. Curious how the tater tots got in there, but good to see them.

Tater tots are always welcome. Makes for a good excuse to have them. (Well, they were part of the meal)

I’d never heard of the game. It looks like it could be a lot of fun.

I thought so too. I’m with you. I never heard of it either.

Never heard of this one. Maybe it can replace break dancing at the Olympics.

I think almost anything could replace break dancing.

This answers a question I had this week. There’s a bunch of boxes of Spikeball sets in my school’s cafeteria and I had no idea what it was. Only half the boxes were visible, so it only said ‘Spike’ from what I saw. Thought it was something involving sharp objects like lawn darts.

The real name of the game is Round Ball (odd cause all balls are round)The company that makes the equipment has the name Spikeball.

I like Spikeball better.

This is a new one for me. Over here the thing is Murbles or Pickelball. ‘Over here’ meaning not me. 😆

Ha ha ha. “not me” cracked me up.

Pawsome game day pics! I think that game is for people much younger than me. I got winded just thinking about how much running is involved by the participants. 🙂

I would need an O2 tank.

I’d need more than that! 😆

I think a fully stocked EMT unit will be needed just in case.

I’m not sure there’s enough VooDoo Ranger in the world to play that game! 😊

I agree with you. Besides at 9% ABV it wouldn’t take many to count one out.

Reading over your comments, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one for whom this is a new game! I don’t see any “mature” folks out there, so I am assuming it’s a game for the young’uns? Anyway, the mascot looks pretty happy with how things are going, and I’m happy Tempeste got a closeup of the equipment.

It was new to me as well. I think watching them play you are right. Youngsters only.

I’ve never heard of spikeball. (I don’t get out much.) That was some Spike Jones video! I had to watch it all the way through.

When I was a kid I loved his stuff. My favorite is Deep Purple but there is no video of that one.

I’d heard of him but never actually seen a performance of his.

Spikeball! Not Spitball.
My eyes are as creative as I am. I read Spitball, then saw Spikeball, which I’ve never heard of.
All in all another great day in Lakeway.
Was Twiggy there too?
I’ll try the cornbread dish!
Thanks John!

Twiggy stayed home. She loved to bark at people but not all of them liked to be barked at. 🐂 🐂 🐂

Spikeball? Not what I expected but it looks wholesome and not a contact sport. But I barely know what pickleball is. Thanks for brunch!

John, everything on that menu sounds great for a hot day. (Still hot here.)
Okay… I’m feeling like I must be from another planet, but I was in no way familiar with any aspect of spikeball. I am now duly educated. It sounds fun. Have a great new week. Hugs.

Imma have the ceviche and Tagliatelle por favor. And then I’m going to watch people play one of the craziest things I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Spikeball is nutso, and I would never venture into a game for fear my glasses would be lost. But as a spectator? Yeah, I’ll cozy up with Tempeste.

That ball can goe anywhere and usually does. Makes for a few laughs when a player slips and the ball goes by him.
