Today, we are on a quest to find any Thanksgiving decorations available in the neighborhood. Traditionally, Thanksgiving is somewhat ignored in terms of decorating, so we are off to see if we can find any. We are catered by Caroline of Austin. Our entertainment is Nat King Cole.
Menu
Biscuits & Gravy – buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, fried eggs
Spinach & Feta Egg White Omelet – grilled red onion, cherry tomato, breakfast potatoes, choice of toast
Ham & Cheddar Omelet – smoked ham, aged cheddar, breakfast potatoes, choice of toast
Eggs Your Way – choice of chicken sausage or peppered bacon, breakfast potatoes, choice of toast.
Whipped Ricotta Pancakes – syrup, whipped butter, powdered sugar
Crispy Chicken & Waffles – maple syrup, honey butter
Sweet Corn Cake Benedict – jalapeño cheddar corn cake, avocado, tomato & corn salsa
Huevos Rancheros – sunny eggs, crispy tortilla, black bean, jalapeño, avocado, queso fresco
Green Chili & Chicken Enchiladas – fried egg, yogurt crema, cilantro, avocado, lime

So, let’s get rolling.

Here’s the first. Well, at least it is a decoration.

A mixed take on Thanksgiving but festive.

A little more spirit in this grouping.

Well, now this is more like it.

A turkey pilgrim adds the right message.

This is a unique symbol of Thanksgiving.

Another turkey pilgrim ignores that the turkey was invited to dinner, although not as a guest.

Here is the mother of all decorations.
There weren’t many decorations, but I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. It’s time for food and entertainment.

A lot more than I expected, actually! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽

We don’t do Thanksgiving over here in UK, and I often wonder why. Maybe we can’t think of anything to be thankful for?

You could be thankful that you got rid of the colonies back in 1776.

I think you do. It was the American revolution.

But what did we have to do with the American Revolution? (I’m not very good with history!)

Your King George decided to tax tea.We were part of the British Empire. Taxing tea was the last straw. Our founding fathers sent a Declaration of Independence to George telling him we were going to separate from England. He sent troops to stop that action. The war was on and the result was the British troops were defeated and the thirteen colonies became a republic free from Briton. There a short course in history.

Wow! go to the top of the class, John. I never knew that the American Revolution was our fault. History can be interesting after all…

I think it was going to boil over anyway and the tax was catalyst.

That house is on about ten acres all iron fenced. He has the best holiday displays always.

Seems to be more inflatable turkeys around this year. Several people just dressed up their giant skeletons though.

We have one neighbor who dressed their skeletons for Christmas but not Thanksgiving.

Pancakes, please, a short stack. I agree, that last decoration was a killer. Wow! Finally, Nat King Cole, was there ever a smoother voice. That song sounded hard to sing but he nailed it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family John.

The first item on the menu made me laugh. One of our favorite breakfast places has a sign that says: “I love you as much as biscuits and gravy. But not as much as bacon. Bacon is the bomb.”

Yeah, bacon trumps biscuits and gravy every time. 😁

Cute decorations – I like the turkey in the football outfit! We can’t have any outdoor decorations here (courtesy of the HOA) although everyone cheats for Christmas. Spinach and feta omelet? Count me in!

That omelet sounded good to me too. No decorations? bah humbug.

The football uniformed turkey made me laugh out loud. I love the longhorn steer with its head adorned with fall flowers.
Several neighbors in my neighborhood decorated for Christmas yesterday and I noticed our gate has Christmas lights and bells on it already. The HOA must have done that yesterday as well. I’m waiting until after Thanksgiving to hang my Christmas lights.

Lovely tour, John. I wonder if the meager Thanksgiving decorations are due in part to Christmas decorations being available in stores before Halloween. When I was knee-high to my dad, we didn’t put up or even see any Christmas decorations until *after* Thanksgiving. I was in a store recently that had a bunch of Christmas displays but very little for Thanksgiving. Sad.

I just think Halloween and Christmas take a lot of energy that folks don’t spend on Thanksgiving.

You had me cackling with the “Another turkey pilgrim ignores that the turkey was invited to dinner, although not as a guest” caption! 🤣 It seems like that’s the opposite end of the spectrum from uninvited guest?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes it does. Being invited and served might be a higher order than uninvited. Don’t ask the turkey though. 😁

Thanksgiving seems to be skipped from Halloween to Christmas. Yet everyone I know says they love Thanksgiving the best because it’s all about getting together with family and friends and not about gifts. I’ve been disappointed to see so many Christmas decorations up for the past two weeks. I’ll keep our pumpkins out at least until December one 😁

The Christmas seems a little rushed this year. I’m with you. Keep that pumpkin out there.

Firstly Boss, Imma take one of each from that delicious looking menu. It IS Thanksgiving week after all and I feel as if a smorgasbord is gonna be my jam.
As for Thanksgiving decorations, I don’t see too much of it in my neck of the woods. I’ll spot some here and there but things seem to move from Halloween right into Christmas with little regard for Thanksgiving. So this was a nice ride.
I dig that turkey balloon, it was giving me Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade vibes.
