It’s great that Lakeview displayed the talent of Sofia’s artwork, John, and nice that it was catered by La Santa Barbacha of Austin.  Nora Jones’ song is entertaining.

I was just wondering how your art was coming along?

I’ve been stalled since June. I was doing the 100 mini watercolor challenge but I couldn’t keep up the pace of over 8 little paintings a month. I ran out of ideas and motivation after I completed my 36th little painting.
I did buy several art books last year and my goal this year is to do some of the exercises in each book. Hopefully, that gets me over the stalled hump. 😊

How do you stay motivated to write everyday?

Having a schedule helps keep me writing. I don’t have a problem with the blog, but I have to admit that on a novel it is a bit harder. There, I set a $500-a-day goal. The key is to only do 500 words and then stop. It might be helpful for you to set a timer and only do art for a specified time then quit no matter what. It seems that when we are forced to quit, we want to continue. Hope this helps.

A wonderfully talented artist in many types of media. I hope she gets into a lot of art shows.

As for food, all of the above look tantalizing but NO cilantro. I have that gene that makes it taste like soap.

        You’ve got the gene!

Cilantro contains various aldehyde compounds that contribute to its distinctive aroma. A variation in the OR6A2 gene makes some individuals’ olfactory receptors bind strongly to these aldehydes. This strong binding translates to smelling and tasting soap or metal, rather than the herb’s fresh notes.

What an inspiring story of creativity discovered later in life! I enjoyed her art very much, John, particularly the ballerina and the first drawing, Fabiola. Do you happen to know if the model is a real person, maybe someone close to the artist? It’s very lifelike.

She does some gorgeous work. Fabiola really calls to me. I’ve been spending a lot of time researching the origins of cave painting, how it progressed. A far cry from this delicacy, but I see the creative roots.

Beautiful works here, John. She is obviously super-talented, and a shining example for those who think it’s “too late” to head off on another journey in life. A very appropriate music selection for this exhibit (and it goes well with a quesadilla also!).
