Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste

“What is that, Twiggy?”

“What is what?”

“That sound.”

“Hmm. If I didn’t know better, I would say it’s a 3.2-liter truck engine.”

“How far away do you think it is?”

“I figure it is leaving the FedEx warehouse in Austin.”

“I wonder how long it will take to get here?”

“I’m not a math whiz, but I figure it will be three hours at least.”

“Well, that’s a shame. I was hoping to get in a St. Louis barkathon before my nap.”

“Not everyone operates at our convenience, Little One.”

“Can you keep a lookout for me?”

“Sure. You take a nap, and if the FedEx guy turns into our cul-de-sac, I’ll wake you.”

“Sure it’s not too much trouble?”

“Naw. I’ve already had a nap so I can do that for you.”

“That would be swell.”

“You would do the same for me.”

“You bet. I’d do anything for you.”

“I know. You and I have to stick together.”

“We can still play Panther and Puma, even though it gets rough at times.”

“Of course. That is a game we both love.”

“Oh, good. I’m going to take a nap then.”

“Pleasant dreams.”

I have been working in business for over forty years and now have the time to work in special areas of interest. My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone.     1. Thank you, Teagan. I sympathize. Twiggy and Tempeste are not allowed to bark outside (a lot of water bottle training there) Our neighbors are pretty deaf to the bad manners of theirs, however. Very annoying.

  20. The delivery people here know my two as they can hear them barking a mile away! And I’m pretty sure the pups hear the engine when it leaves Madrid. Then there’s the ice cream truck…

  23. I’m not sure what I liked more– the idea of the barkathon, Tempest tilting her head (so cute!) or the fact that they’re so devoted to each other. Okay, definitely the last, but this brought smiles from start to finish. Have a great weekend, John!

  25. What amazing hearing! Specifically, the ability to tell the size of a distant engine. It’s a blessing and a curse. I feel the same way, as my poor hearing keeps me from hearing all the people yammering about things they have no clue about.

  31. Twiggy, Tempeste, IDEA!

    Have dad buy an old Fed-Ex truck and park it in front of the house. That way you could barkathon whenever you felt like it. What a gas!

    Tempeste is filling out beautifully.
