Today, we are visiting Lakeways historic Liebelt Cabin. We are catered by Crown and Anchor Pub of Austin. Our entertainment is The Foggy Mountain Boys.

Classic Hamburger & Fries – The tried-and-true original, 100% Fresh, Never Frozen Patty cooked to perfection. For those who don’t want to mess with a good thing!
Mushroom Swiss Burger & Fries – Topped with sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese.
Cheeseburger & Fries – Our Classic Hamburger with American cheese.
Double Cheeseburger & Fries – Our Classic Hamburger, double patty with American cheese.
Jalapeño Cheeseburger & Fries – Cheeseburger topped with sliced jalapeños.
Bacon Cheeseburger & Fries – Add two strips of bacon to the cheeseburger.
Veggie Burger & Fries – Award-winning! A crispy veggie patty on a wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo, and mustard.

Hop on the bus and let’s go.

There’s the historical marker explaining that the cabin was relocated to the city hall area in 2011. It is over 150 years old.

Vintage farm equipment around the cabin.

More farm equipment.

A replica of the marker for August Liebelt, who built and lived in the cabin.

One view of the cabin.

A closer look.

The stove was used for cooking and heating.

A view toward the fireplace and dining area.

Artifacts from the era.

Looking back toward the stove and at the ladder to the second story. Note that the cabin had three doors, which provided plenty of ventilation.

A close-up of more artifacts. Great needlepoint, but spelling not so much.

The old rocker and cane. The framed photos are of members of the Historical Society at various functions in the cabin.
Now it’s time for food and music. I hope you have a great week.

This looks like a very interesting place to visit. Thanks for sharing, John.

It’s really good that Lakeway relocated the Liebelt cabin and set it up for a historical display for the population to see, John. Your photos and words are nice information for us.

JOHN,
I really like these old cabins and equipment. Amazing how a family could live in this place. Looks like maybe 8 feet square. I guess the beds were up the ladder – yikes for an old guy quite a feat. The needlework looks good too. I didn’t see any spelling errors. Did I miss them ? Glass and China look okay. But overall a great post. Thanks for your efforts.

The towel has embroidery that says, chima. Should be China. Glad you liked the post, Tom.

Could I have a mushroom swiss burger please John… amazing how people managed so well back then with a simple roof over their heads, a fire, somewhere to cook… we are spoilt with all our mod cons… I bet his family was so pleased to have him home safely. xxx

Historical places like this are so wonderful. To visit. And we complain about the A/C going out during the summer months. 🙄 Think you can whip me up a veggie burger on that stove, John?

I think a veggie burger would be just great. A cast-iron pan does the job.
