Some years ago, the crape myrtle was designated our state shrub, but there was a fuss raised because it’s not a native plant. So, the sage (or Cenizo) was designated our official state native shrub. Compromise can happen!

Basking in the blossoms, John. They are so welcome, along with a sleeping doggie. We’ve had a black snoozer here this weekend, with a gimpy back leg, so will have to see her vet when she gets back to the Twin Cities.

Amazing. You have some beautiful flowers. We don’t have crepe myrtle here. At least I haven’t seen it. Charlotte always gets two hibiscus. She puts one in the front and one on the deck in the back. We can always see them. We tried the tall ones but they got too big. The bush type work perfectly. She uses the red to attract hummingbirds.

We have a lot of crepe myrtles in bloom in our neighborhood, too. Except for ours for some reason, although it’s healthy, How does the sage overwinter? I’d love to have some here, and we a similarly hot, hot in the summer.
The heat dome that has been so awful for the last week is finally dissipating. But temps are still in the low 90s.
The plantain pancakes looks great!
