Today, we are attending the groundbreaking for the new Butler Rough Hollow Park in Lakeway.
The new park will include an amphitheater featuring limestone-block seating built into the hillside, facing a concrete stage area. Other features include a mountain bike course, bank-shot play court, multisport field, playground, ninja course, pavilion, restroom facilities, picnic tables, and benches.
A backstop and fence, baseball bases, portable benches, and portable soccer goals will be installed in the multisports field. The playground will include integrated shade, roller slides, swings, and multiple play levels for all ages. We are catered by Jefferys of Austin, and our entertainment is Spanky and Our Gang.

Cool that you get a sapling. Do you grow it at home and then donate it to the park?

No we will keep this one. It is a nice red oak.

I think this is a really momentous start to something the kids are apparently really looking forward to! Your community is a true community in every sense of the word!
Love the 70’s outfits on Spanky and the Gang. Great song for a Sunday! Like To Get To Know You is another good one!
And Alaskan halibut, please! There’s no other choice possible!

This looks amazing! I love that your community is creating such an inclusive third place. Ours doesn’t have very many and it’s a serious oversight. Also, I was rolling right along until I hit ninja course — is google right that it’s an obstacle course? What a great addition to the park!

It is an obstacle course. It is broken down into age groups too.

A fun area that also it makes space for different abilities. I love that it will be useful even as kids age. What a great idea!

What a wonderful event, John. I’m sorry, but my mind immediately drifted 59 years into the future and reading “The Top-10 Things Not to do If You’re Attending the Groundbreaking.” Does one of the people in the group of seven go by the nickname Tiny?
I was going to have the healthy halibut but then I saw the 16 oz tomahawk pork chop. Pork chop for me, please.

There is a 42 oz porterhouse on the menu as well. I didn’t list it since nobody would believe it. 😄 I think ole Wes Hook is really Tiny.

John, that sounds like a super park facility you are building. I know you can’t wait to put your bike (the one you named pocket rocket) on that bike course. Send me a video and order me a cup of that fowl guinea🐳

One cup of fowl guinea coming up. The park is too far from me. I don’t have bike hauling gear on my car.

Be sure to grab a sapling.

I grabbed a red oak sapling. No, we are not working on it. It is all professional contractors.
