The deer are waiting for some carrots.

Rather than explain, the deer take a powder.
Two bucks wonder what is coming down the street.
Twiggy wonders what those two bucks are doing.
Twiggy tells them to break it up.
Twiggy asks the buck to move along.
The buck gives a sign that he’s not moving.
In fact, he tells Twiggy to move along.
Time to leave the drama and enjoy the food and music.

I think it is wonderful to have such a close connection to wildlife John, but I suspect that any attempt to establish a colourful garden in the front of the house would be a great attraction… Where we lived on the outskirts of London backed onto a large area of forestation and grass and here was common grazing for cattle. At certain times of year they would visit estates like ours and help themselves to anything growing in the front garden.. quite something to have to move three or four large cows of the driveway to get the car out to go to work.. hugsx

As an 85-year-old, I can only handle one at a time. The Producer was gone, so poor Tempeste had to sit it out until I got back. 😊

Nice walk. Apparently Twiggy doesn’t scare off the deer. Doesn’t she bark?
It’s nice that they stand their ground. Curious… do the deer usually just show up in the morning or do you see them all day? Is there a forest they live in?

The deer show up at our place in the morning and at night for a handout. Then we see them all day. There are several little wooded areas that they use. They also bed down on lawns under the trees.

What a wonderful walk! Thank you for sharing this journey, John. It’s rare to see a deer in our area, but there are plenty of pronghorn, and they look like they come from the deer family. 😊

Twiggy is well trained not to go after the deer. You would have been pulled along, and not for fun! Is Tempeste similarly sedate?

Yes, Tempeste shows little interest in them. She likes to watch. Of course, there was one time she escaped through the front door and chased them for a block.

Oh, my goodness. Miss. Twiggy, you are a brave young lady! I doubt I could confront a Buck with such authority. (always carry carrots if you want to make friends)

The way he’s standing reminded me of a big dog playing with a small one. LOL, maybe a line of barking bucks is part of a future security system. 🤗

You can tell how used to humans these deer are. We have a family that hangs out in our open backyard.

They become very used to us for sure. They even come up to our window to check and see it the carrot source is up and about.

Did Twiggy try to bark them all the way back to St. Louis? Because it seems her technique was falling on deaf deer ears yesterday. These guys have the run of the neighborhood, they don’t scare so easily. But I’ll give Twiggy this, she’s earnest!

Your deer are so close in proximity to you guys, John. It’s really amazing to me they hang out there. I am sure Twiggy must be fascinated with them. I love the fact stand-offs don’t involve barking. That must be hilarious to take in.
