Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

a friday imagesF3T7XLWV

Friday YAY. Yes, I’m glad it is here. I spent most of the week working on the various cover submissions for the second book in the John Cannon Trilogy titled His Revenge. It is a daunting task in that I had four designers competing for the business.  They came up with over 60 designs, and I must say all the artists were good. I will withhold final judgment on the service until I have the finished product. So far I have been pleased with the results. As a reminder, you can still vote for the cover that you think works by going to this link. http://99designs.com/book-cover-design/vote-uyatn3

I will say one designer took me to a final design and then had to change it because he was not authorized to use the graphic he presented. That was not forgivable as far as I’m concerned. Total time waste. The design was great and in the final four, and then it disappeared and he substituted another. This week’s JohnKu is about honesty. I hope you like it.

Based on the integrity. . .

At last finding none.

Sorry to hear about the incident. I’ve seen various covers and promo stuff that looks like it wouldn’t have the rights. Mostly, I wonder when authors use celebrity pictures on promos. Seems to be rather common.

    Enjoy your weekend.

Yup. Though I had to return home for a brief moment. The breakfast was lacking, so I needed to get more food. Also DVD’s because there’s a player in here.

Well, John — I live and work in DC, so I don’t have to tell you just how very much I relate… Somebody should let the execs here know that a false, empty promise is the same thing as a lie…

Of the 3 covers on your link look very professional and well crafted. I like the second one best because of the back cover. The editor (and erstwhile “artist” [and i use the term loosely]) in me would like to see the “national monument/treasure” that is threatened in this book displayed somehow on the front cover — maybe in the background. I realize that might make it too busy. Just my wishful thinking. That’s just my two cents worth — and you know how far two cents will go. 😉 Hugs.

Sorry to hear that John. I’m easily bothered when people waste my time.

At least you found out that he was not authorised to use the graphic John. It would have been much worse to discover this later, had you chosen that cover. The covers look great. Can’t decide which I like the most. In some ways it’s the first one, but I think it might be too dark and wouldn’t look as good as the other two when viewed as a thumbnail. Have a good weekend.

Yikes! If somebody doesn’t have integrity, they don’t have much, do they? Sorry you had to go through this, John. Perhaps it’s a blessing it was revealed before rather than afterwards, huh??

Boy, this JohnKu could be about most every job I’ve worked. I’m sure you’ve seen it too! Best of luck with the cover vote.

Wow, that’s pretty bad. Not just the time wasted but the reason the time was wasted. You don’t need to have legal problems because of someone’s else lack of integrity. Oh, dear. Can’t be too careful these days 😦 Good luck with the cover. The one I voted for had the least number of votes and that’s probably why I’m not a book jacket designer 😉

Your comments were right on though. I liked that on as well. (I’m not a good judge)
