It looks like all the tourists have gone. If you check out my Thursday post, you saw the early morning saving of space. I did not have pictures of the crowds since quite frankly I stayed away from the beach all day. So yesterday’s walk produced what I would call the aftermath.
First, let’s look at the beach.
As you can see it is pretty clear of people and things. There is a slight haze, and the weather person attributes it to Sahara dust.
This next photo I have titled “Burial Ground.” Here is where the frames of dead pop-ups eventually wind up.
“The Sentinel,” is the title of his photo. This is a photo of an abandoned pop-up still standing guard waiting for its family to return.
I know. Sad right?
The next shot is of the ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep) search vehicle.
These volunteers search the beach every day for turtle eggs. Turtles no longer can simply lay their eggs and hope for the babies to survive. With so much human traffic the eggs can be broken very easily. The volunteers look for signs that a mother turtle has laid eggs and then they will dig up the nest and put the eggs safely away to hatch. The hatchlings are then released when they are old enough.
This last photo speaks volumes about former owners.
That black thing on the right is a tire. That’s what I do when I no longer need a tire. I go out on the beach and drop it off. Don’t you?????

Applesauce! People are such pigs. I am amazed so many of them leave those frames behind; such waste and total lack of respect. (Maybe they could use a year or two wondering where their next meal was coming from…)
On a positive note, that’s interesting about the ARK and the turtle eggs, and the patrol vehicle. It’s a very cool point of interest to include, John. The sky and water are both beautiful.

I was happy the ARK vehicle came up during the walk. I’m bracing for Monday myself, 8:30 meeting which requires a 5:30 departure. Boy, I hate that. I hope you have a supreme Sunday, Teagan. 🙂 HUGS

It’s amazing that people just leave stuff they bought on the beach. Those frames can’t be cheap, so the litterbugs also seem to be terrible with money.

What’s wrong with people? Destroying such beautiful landscape with their trash. On a happier note, I’m glad the turtles have someone to look after them. I hope your Sunday is a restful one, John.

It’s so sad to know that people will come to enjoy a pristine beach and them leave it like this. What’s wrong with people?

Such and interesting post in several ways. If the garbage remained, people would stop coming and the turtles could have it back. It’s a shame really that there isn’t a department who would pick it all up and dump it on the litterbug’s front lawn. I’m sure there are cameras available that could at least identify those responsible.

I meant more like permanently installed municipal type security cameras. They come with a little sign that warns of what happens if you leave debris behind.

Hi John,
The fact that humans beings just throw litter away was once explained to me by a biologist as proving that we humans have descended from tree dwellers [= apes]: they throw down whatever they don’t need any more and then – out of sight, out of mind. It’s such a pity that we can’t just deny our ancestry. Well, not all of us are that that, thank goodness. But way too many are.
In spite of that, enjoy your Sunday and the beach,

Some people are just pigs, huh, John? How can anybody leave their old junk behind to spoil the view for others … and possibly cause all sorts of harm to sea creatures?? But I love that they’re rescuing the baby turtle nests!!

I love that volunteers look out for the turtle eggs and make sure they hatch safely. I’ll agree with many others that some people are just pigs.

I think we can safely say that humans for the most part, have little or no respect for incredibly beautiful places such as the beach. Sad. Cool that there are people who look out for turtle eggs. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder, was the tire burned? I heard years ago that if you burn a tire, it keeps the mosquitoes away, which probably means it is toxic and shouldn’t be inhaled by humans either. People can definitely be slobs. Poor pop-ups. Sad.
