Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

TGIF

Another week has flown by. I wish I knew where the time goes. (well, I do know where it goes but it is hard to believe how quick it goes there.)

Continue to edit on Circumstances of Childhood. Found a couple of plot holes so it is a grab the backhoe maneuver and work to fill ’em up.

I also commissioned a new cover for My GRL. Why you ask? Long story but here is the short version. My contract with the publisher of My GRL is up for renewal in March. I do not want to renew so I will give the proper notice and then publish My GRL with that beautiful publishing house Keewaydin Lane Books.(Me). I don’t have the rights to the cover so I need to get a new one. Also, I’m getting a complete professional edit to clean up some things the publisher missed. I’m not going to make a big deal about it but what it will do is free up My GRL for some promotional work.

Also, there are only four more days of the campaign hell so I’m sure we will be able to look forward to the vote counting hell to follow. I wonder what the new term will be for “hanging chad.” Today’s JohnKu is about the election. Sadly we are all pawns in a ridiculous game.

First the campaign noise,

Next the voting fraud specter. . .

Who can help us cope?

  1. Best of luck for Tuesday John.
    Hugs

    1. Thanks, David. Not sure what to wish fro on this one.

      1. Peace at the end of it I should think. No killing.
        Hugs

      2. Thant’s a good one. Okay will do. πŸ™‚

  2. I sent in an absentee ballot from India this year. It seems this election was the only one thought important enough to make it easy to do that. Desperate times it seems. Have a great weekend, John. πŸ™‚ — Suzanne

    1. Desperate times indeed. Thanks, Suzanne.

To your question, who can help us cope…ultimately for me, it is the Writer of our collective story — for surely goodness and mercy will follow, somehow. But then again, in the interim, there is always Vodka. πŸ™‚

    1. Ha ha ha. I like the description of “Writer of our collective story.” Goodness and mercy is what we all hope. As we walk through the valley we trust the shield will be there. You are right, temporarily there is gin too. Thanks, Gwen.

  4. Let me know if you need a place to promote My Grl.

    1. Thanks, Craig. πŸ™‚

  5. Nice decision. Looking at the covers, ‘My GRL’ does seem odd since the others have people on them. ‘His Revenge’ and ‘Our Justice’ give a real action thriller feel unlike the more mellow ‘My GRL’. Going to do a big event for its new release?

    1. Not sure on the event. I’ll have to wait and see. I have the next one in line about the same time and I don’t want them to crowd each other. Decisions, decisions. Have a nice weekend. πŸ™‚

      1. Tough one. Many a doubleheader that promotes both? Like have My Grl start at a sale price?

      2. I like that idea. Thanks. πŸ™‚

  6. Best of luck with the new cover and new publisher – sometimes only our own publishing ‘house’ knows how to do it best.

    1. They treat me well too! Thanks. πŸ˜€

  7. Can’t wait to see the new cover, John. As for the election, I’m dreading it, but I be glad for all of the phone calls and commercials to be over. Pass the Vodka! Just kidding, I can’t handle hard liquor. πŸ™‚ Happy Friday!

    1. Pass the wine then. Thanks, Jill. πŸ˜€

      1. Definitely. πŸ™‚

  8. I send this picture routinely to my sisters on Fridays. Love it. I enjoy the title of your lastest. May your weekend be an enjoyable one. Your Haiku…nearly here. Yikes

    1. I know right? We can only hope. Thanks, Audrey. Glad your sisters enjoy the picture.

      1. We can hope while vodka makes it a little easier to watch.

      2. Lots of Vodka. πŸ˜€

  9. Sounds like good news on the writing front. And who can help us cope with this election nonsense? Perhaps one of your fine margaritas will provide a brief respite… Have a great weekend John!

    1. I have a recipe that is scaleable up to 50 gallons. We may need it. Thanks, Philip.

      1. Sounds great, but what is everyone else going to drink?

  10. I’m excited that you get control over My GRL back in the spring, John. That is excellent news! I’m also pleased that your electoral hell is almost over. I can’t believe the polls are saying that the election is a toss-up. Oremus… (let us pray).

    1. John, would you please look in your spam and see if any of my comments to your on WP went there? I really appreciate it.

      1. Nothing in the spam. What’s missing?

      2. I got a report that one of my comments went into spam and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a general condition. Thanks so much. πŸ™‚

  11. Pawns indeed. Sigh… Great Johnku, my friend.
The vodka joke cracked me up though! TGIF and I’m on leave. Woot! Time to WriMo mo mo! Hugs.

    1. Good old leave. WriMo for sure.

  12. Best of luck with the cleanup and new cover, John. You’re fast becoming a pro at all things publishing-related, so I predict much success! As for the election mess, well, what can I say? Even when the voting is over, the constant talk will continue … and we might be recounting ballots until Christmas. Sigh.

    1. Thant is my fear. 😦

  13. Friday does rhyme with vodka – how have I never noticed that?

    1. So obvious. πŸ˜€

  14. My publishing house is the only one that can make proper Cornish Pasties – in Cornwall! It does pretty good gin & tonic too… πŸ˜‰
Don’t envy anyone in the US these ‘last days’ (of campaigning). The clamour of vote-begging will pass of course, but I fear the bellyaching and b*tching will continue well into 2017, not to mention 2018,19 & 20… 😦 You Johnku says it all regrettably.

Still – there may be several great spoof movies of these last several months coming out to look forward to! And there’s always vodka of course. πŸ˜€

    1. Thanks, Jan I like your positive spin. πŸ˜‰

  15. I can’t wait to see the new cover for My GRL! I also can’t wait to get past Tuesday, but then, like you said…there is the stuff to follow. A good thing we have Fridays and that stuff it rhymes with πŸ™‚
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks Mae Clair. πŸ˜€

  16. Not long until the election now John. The World waits with bated breath. Having a new front cover once in a while can work well, so I am told. Have a good weekend.

    1. Thanks, Guy. You as well.

  17. Congrats on the new release of My GRL! I’m always happy to help with promotion. Yes, I personally can’t wait for this debacle of an election to be over and done!

  18. I’d never noticed Friday and vodka rhyming. Don’t have an ear for it. πŸ˜€
Who will help cope, i.n.d.e.e.d. o_O

    1. Ha ha ha. Who indeed?

  19. On my third glass…so it does now…lol

    1. Ha ha ha. πŸ˜€

  20. Look forward to promoting the new edition of My GRL when it is released next year John.. I think all of us are holding our collective breath wherever we live!..Sally

    1. I am shooting for the 13th (oops) 14th Of March. πŸ™‚

  21. The calendar gives us hope because Wednesday will be the first full day without campaign ads on television!

    1. Just the hanging chad news coverage. Also the first day of the last days we can blame Obama.

      1. Don’t know if I can agree with that. He’s blame legacy has the potential to be quite long.

  22. This is how it ends
Not with a bang, but with a
    Ranting Facebook post.

    1. Thank you Mr Eliot. πŸ™‚

      1. You did a riff on T.S Eliot’s Hollow Men. Thought I would recognize you for that.

      2. Oh did I?
        Clever me. ;~}
