Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Funny Friday

I hope you are ready for the weekend. This has been a good week for me with more words written on the WIP. I did add a tweak on the Amazon Marketing Services promotion. I paused the first and launched a second and can report that I got fewer impressions but more clicks per impression. (For those who wonder Amazon charges by the click and you can set the price per click in advance) I also got a sale (I’m in no hurry to figure this out) on significantly less clicks and impressions. The only thing I changed was the promo blurb. I kept the keywords and number of keywords the same and the price per click the same.

So what conclusion can I draw?

  1. The promo blurb is important
  2. The same keywords and number do not deliver the same number of impressions from promo to promo.
  3. The keywords that did not get any impressions were the same from promo to promo so that means my price per click on those keywords was too low.
  4. I need to keep experimenting with the mix.

Today’s JohnKU talks about experimentation. I hope you all have a good weekend.

To solve a problem,

Many techniques are at hand. . .

Why trial and error?

  1. Great JohnKu! As for the meme…well, you know what I think, John. Happy Friday!

    1. Thanks, Jill. 😀

  2. I’m retired, John, so the workday has no meaning for me now. I don’t knock trial and error. It works for me. 😀 — Suzanne

    1. Ha ha ha. Me too, Suzanne. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂

  3. I’m trying my hand at an Amazon promo myself. Definitely feels easier to set up than last time I tried. Went category, so I hope that works. Those blurbs are so hard to get right. Have a fun weekend.

    1. Thanks, Charles. Best wishes on the launch.

Your journey into the Amazon jungle intrigues me; without a map, I’m lost. So, my secret hope is that you will chart one for the rest of us. The JohnKu is perfect and the meme–hilarious. 🙂

    1. The metaphor of “jungle” is perfect. It is going to be a slow process and hopefully will yield some benefits. If not all I’ve lost is brain matter. Thanks, Gwen. 🙂

    2. Yes — what Gwen said, John. I’m wandering in the dark forest of life (or Amazon) without a flashlight. 😀

      1. I’m with Teagan and Gwen. Wishing you success with the promo and hoping you continue to share your results. Happy weekend!

      2. I will no matter how embarrassing. Thanks, Staci

      3. Watch out for bad beasties. I’m doing the same wandering for sure. 😀 Thanks, Teagan.

  5. Mmm… One cup of coffee is not sufficient for my poor brain to get wrapped around that. But I love the Johnku! TGI(my)F(riday off)!!! So maybe a second cup — oh bliss… 🙂
    Happy weekend, John. Mega hugs.

    1. Yes, have that second cup and enjoy. Also wishes for a beautiful weekend. Hugs. 😀

      1. Ooo I did — and I put a teaspoon full of butter pecan ice cream in it too! 😀 Hugs again.

      2. Aw man! Are you lucky. I’m sure it was excellent.

  6. This is a good week to say goodbye to, John. I always wondered why “trial and error” seems like and endless loop.

I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. I’m not sure either, Dan. I remember the definition of insanity. “Doing the same thing but expecting a different outcome.” 😀

      1. I love that definition, John. I think it was Einstein.

      2. I think you are right. 😀

  7. Good one, John! I’m glad you had a good week – mine went by so fast, I don’t have a comment about it!

    1. I can understand how they fly by. I guess it’s the age or something. Have a good weekend, GP.(it will fly by as well) 😀

      1. I know that!!

  8. I quite like errors – but it’s also fun to try new things! 😉

    1. Seems to be my preferred method (Trial and error) Thanks, Jan

  9. !!!!!!! As always marvellous! Thank you, John!

    1. Thank you, Maria. 🙂 Have a great weekend.

  10. Love this. Why re-invent the wheel? 🙂

    1. I know right? 😀

  11. Thanks for the update. I love hearing from my generous friends about their experiments in book publishing and promoting. Happy weekend!

    1. It is a minefield out there. Thanks, Debbie. Happy weekend.

  12. Glad to hear you’re making progress on the Amazon Marketing process. I tried one and totally struck out in February. Four lousy clicks and no sales. I guess everything was wrong/bad/inept/whatever. Sigh. Have a great weekend, John!

    1. It is a bear for sure.

      1. It is, John. I need to pick your brain!

      2. Not much left I’m afraid.

  13. I still need to tackle Amazon Marketing, and appreciate the news on how things are working.
Great JohnKU, and the meme is perfect. Exactly my Friday, LOL!

    1. Thanks, Mae. It is not easy to master. 😀

  14. Nice meme – but replace coffee with Diet Coke for me. Happy Friday!

    1. Okay but just this once.

  15. I applaud your persistence and ingenuity, John.
You’re a better man than I when it comes to self-promotion.

    1. Not so sure of that , Hook. If so why aren’t I famous like you?

  16. Thanks for sharing your results with Amazon Marketing Services promotions. Have a good weekend.

    1. Thanks Guy. You as well
