Friday John Ku – AKA – TGIF

It is Friday again and time to look forward to the weekend. It is also time to say thank you for all the warm wishes my family and I have received as a result of hurricane Harvey making a mess out of our island.  Thank you all.

I am happy to report that the damage is all repairable although it looks like the roof and floors will need to be replaced. There still is no electricity but that will improve. Once the electricity is on we will be able to go back. None of the repairs needed make the house uninhabitable so we are very fortunate. Others are not as fortunate. Todays John Ku talks about the importance of good wishes.

Makes the difference.

Thank you all.

  1. Great to hear that it’s repairable. Hope you get to go home soon.

What a relief it is to hear that all is repairable. I hope you are able to return home soon to begin the rebuilding process. Your 4-legged ladies probably need sand beneath their feet as much as their mom and dad. 🙂

    1. That is the truth Gwen. Sand is a good thing and I noticed my feet starting to get soft. 😀

  3. Echoing the others, John. I’m glad to hear that the damage is repairable. This has been a devastating storm. We’ve been reading sad stories and uplifting ones, but we feel for all who have been affected. I hope you get to go home soon.

    1. Thank you, Dan. There are stories on every street. It looks like Tuesday may be a go.

      1. Good luck and safe travels.

      2. Thank you, Dan 🙂

  4. This is good news, John. I’m relieved to know everything can be repaired. Wonderful JohnKu! Happy Friday!

    1. Thank you. Sorry about the meme but couldn’t find a funny one this time.

Yay! I’m happy you guys are doing good. Wish your house was untouched, but I guess this is real life, and not a novel. I think. 😜 Best of luck, John.

    1. Thank you, Olivia. In this case, our house is close to untouched when compared to others. Thank you for your good wishes.

        That is awesome.

  6. Glad to hear all can be repaired, John. From the news broadcasts I’ve had visions of total destruction.

    1. We are very lucky, GP. The devastation on the island is almost hard to believe but very real. Thank you.

      1. I can relate, that’s how i can understand the problems that still have to be dealt with. It’s hard for some to realize the power involved in those storms!

Here’s a follow-up to the reblog from Fiction Favourites (John Howell) yesterday.
Really glad that your repairs are not too punitive, John 🙂 Here’s to you and yours returning to Mustang Island very soon ❤

    1. Thank you, Jan. Hugs

  8. No need to answer the question on the previous post. Repairable and habitable are good things. Wishing you the best the rest of the way.

  9. Happy to hear your property is in relatively good shape, John.

    1. Thanks, John. We are very lucky.

      1. You deserve to be lucky in my view.

  10. I am so happy and relieved for you and your family! Thanks for the update ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thank you for the love, Marie. 😀

  11. Pleased to hear that your house survived Hurricane Harvey John. It is a good thing that you are something of a DIY expert. The roof and flooring will be a big job, but it could have been much, much worse. Hope everyone on your island is okay.

    1. Thanks, Guy. Hope you have a happy weekend.

Wonderful news! Glad it can be fixed and you can get into your home soon 🙂

  13. I saw some aerial photos of the damage in Port Aransas the other day, and my anxiety for you went off the meter. This is great news, and I hope your repairs can get started soon, John.

    1. We will be among a number looking for repairs. I think those that do this work will be swamped.

  14. What a blessing!! As others have said, things can be replaced. Before Harvey finally dies, I think we all are going to feel some of his effects. I know you’re eager to get back home and return things to normal.

    1. So true. Thanks, Debbie.

  15. Thank God. I’ve been worried about you guys. Views of the neighborhood should be interesting for years to come. Hope you don’t run into too many price gougers and parasites of the human kind.

    1. They are shooting looters on sight and wish they would do that with contractors. When the air comes on we can live in the house so I will take my time selecting the right one.

      2. A little Bob Newhart flashback there.

  16. This is a truly lovely Johnku. ❤ I agree with John F — you deserve to be lucky, John.
Thank you for all you do for us here. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thank you, Teagan. Hugs on foot.

  17. Our thoughts are with you, John. So what you’re saying is you have some fall and winter projects ahead of you… The rest of my friends are safe, as well. Your home will still feel like home. Hope to see you guys there soon. ♡

    1. It is hotter than the hinges of hell there. looking forward to the electricity.

    1. I’m glad. Good luck, Jo

  20. The best news I’ve heard all day, John. I hope you enjoy your Labor Day weekend without too much labor…

  21. Wonderful news, John! I know you have a lot to do and probably lost a lot, but I’m glad it’s no worse. Hopefully, you will be able to get back soon and start the work ahead of you. Sending hugs.

    1. Thank you, Michelle.

  22. Good news! And, best wishes.

  23. I’ve been thinking about you and your family, John. The images we’ve been getting her in Oz have been heartbreaking. I’m so pleased and relieved to hear that you are okay. Buildings can be repaired, it will take far longer for the memories to heal themselves. You are in my thoughts, my friend. (((HUGS)))

  24. How wonderful your house is repairable and the electricity will be on soon. I’m sorry to hear about your neighbors. I’ve been watching the storm on CNN. My Wi-Fi went off the night before last and just came back on probably because Mumbai flooded again. All the best, John and I hope you’re all home soon. ❤ — Suzanne

  25. Glad that you can return home once you have power John and the main thing is that you are all safe.. hugs xx

  26. Glad to hear it John. It could have been much worse.

  28. Glad you got some good news that repairs are doable. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Deborah

  29. Hate that you had to go through all this and have all the work ahead of you, but glad to hear it’s all repairable.

  30. Hugs, John! Glad to hear things can be repaired! From recent experience, I can identify. Hope you get to go home soon!

    1. Thank you, Traci. 🙂
