Thursday – A Little Personal – Construction

Lucy

“You busy Boss?”

“Oh just trying to finish this chapter. But for you anything.”

“You hear all that hammering?

“Yeah, It is more construction.”

Lucy and Bailey

“These new guys?”

“Nope, the same guys as last week.”

“Well, they don’t smell the same.”

“Nothing ever smells the same, Lucy. So what are they doing out there Pops?”

“They are doing what’s called a demo of the area.”

“See the handrails leaning up against the glass?

“Yeah, Pops I see ’em.”

“They came off the sun porch.”

“Pops, come back in here. That drop is a long one.”

“Just a couple more pictures. Here is another shot of the porch.”

“An outside shot of the rails leaning and a big hole.”

“Pops. You gotta quit now.”

“Okay, I’m ready with this photo of the other end.”

“I’m back, Bailey.”

“None too soon, Pops. You had me a little nervous.”

“So you were concerned about me?”

“That is a long way down for the dinner dish, Pops.”

“I get it, Bailey.”

“How about you, Lucy. You concerned?”

“Huh, what? You say something, Boss? So what did all that look like before the demo?”

Here you go, Lucy. Some before shots.”

Hurricane Harvy damage

“I’m glad someone is fixing those handrails and deck, Boss. I don’t think I want to go out there.”

“Me too, Lucy. Me either.”

  1. Wow, more than a little scary for folks (and pets) who are leery of heights! It’s amazing what wind and water can do to a home. I hope the construction is finished now, so you all can walk to the edge of your porch. Great photos, John, and wonderful dialogue. 🙂

  2. I love the way animals focus on priorities. I hope you fed those guys, John.

It’s amazing how much damage the wind can cause. The scary thing isn’t even that things can be blown over or blown apart, its what happens when that stuff starts flying around. I can’t imagine what it was like to be there when everything was airborne. I’m glad you’re getting things back together.

    1. You should have seen the house. It was covered with all that airborne grass and pieces of paint. The roof looked like a golf ball with all the debris hits. We even had a siding board hit the backyard like a knife and cut the sprinkler line which was a foot below the surface. Thanks, Dan.

  3. Horsefeathers, John… Again, I’m so glad ya’ll are okay and that your beautiful home didn’t get even worse damage. Such a lovely neighborhood… As Dan said, I’m glad everything is coming back together.
This collection has the best views I remember seeing of the homes around you. It’s just that you are upstairs. I’m totally envious, even though I’m too big of a chicken to try living there. And I admit a voyeuristic wish to see more of that little bit of the house across from you — Photo #4 i think, the first picture after the girls, a pink house with arches at the porch… Have a thriving Thursday. Hugs.

  4. Oh, very freaky! I’m terrified of heights. I’m sure it’s lovely to be out there when the railings are in place, but I’m with Lucy and Bailey–you need to stay inside. Of course, we will need a new set of photos when its all finished 🙂
