Views of the Neighborhood – Art Fair

Yesterday was the kind of day that we locals like to get away from the beach.

Beach Day

Here is a shot straight out from the cart over at eight AM. Pretty nice.

Here is a photo looking south from the cart over at eight AM. A little congested but nice.

Beach Day

Same straight out view as before taken at four PM (you might be able to squeeze in with a Sherman tank or front loader.)

View looking South at four PM. Yes, that is vehicular hardware as far as the eye can see.

There was an art fair downtown and so rather than showing any more pictures of the crowded beach, I thought you might enjoy the flavor of the Art Fair. The fair was held in the ballpark of the church.  I could not possibly show everything available, so I picked out some that I hope you enjoy.

Art Fair

The Port Aransas Art Center sponsored the Art Fair.

There were different kinds of booths. This is jewelry.

Some exciting oils and prints.

Lifelike oils.

Interesting pottery.

This shot gives you an idea of the scope of the fair.

A local artist Noel Stephenson with an outrageously good painting of a Portuguese Man-of-War

Another view of her work

Photography

Hand-painted glassware

Bird paintings

Of course, a band. In the background, you can see the roof of the church not yet complete.

Because we are a beach town, one would expect at least one painted surfboard. Hope you enjoyed the tour.

  1. The best place to be,dear John!

    1. Thank you, Maria. 😀

  2. Outstanding paintings, John. It would take forever for me to choose which one to take! The beach reminds me of how Daytona Beach used to look like.

    1. I think Datona and our beaches are very much the same.

  3. These are great paintings, and the other work is interesting also, John. Good pictures. There are some really talented people in that community. 🙂 — Suzanne

    1. Thank you, Suzanne. There are a lot of talented artists here.

  4. Looks like a lot of talent rolled into town. I love Noel’s turtle paintings! Thanks for sharing, John. Happy Sunday!

    1. Thank you, Jill.

  5. Quite the crowd on the beach. I love wandering around art fairs. It’s hard because we can only look. Very little wall space left.

    1. I know what you mean. We are in the same boat. Thanks, Dan

  6. Personally, I would have been most tempted by that booth displaying the glassware. I do love color, and things that sparkle and shine, and I think I see some things that might have needed a new home.

  7. Great artists there. Looks like a fun event.

    1. It was fun. Thanks, Charles.

  8. John,

I love pottery and glass work! And that Man O War . . . WOW! What a beautiful way to spend a morning!

    1. Thank you , Christine.

  11. Looks like you had a great day for it! I’d have spent a lot of time at the jewelry booth. In fact, I’d have been asking them how they prevented theft when everything is all laid out nice and orderly (because as a hobby designer, theft is one of my fears!)

    1. That lady is packing that’s how.

  12. Delightful, John. Art + the beach = heaven.

    1. Or close to it. 😀

  13. There’s all sorta of great talent in Port A, John — and that includes you!
I’m glad they had something fun for the locals to do while the beach is overrun.
I’m quite taken with that close-up of the turtle 🐢. Hugs

    1. Overrun indeed. Thanks, Teagan.

  14. I like that local art exhibition and about the beach – is it allowed there to stay with the cars so near water on the beach, very strange

    1. Yes in Texas (land of the free) cars are allowed on the beach.

      1. Wow I didn’t know that 🙂 thx for info

      2. Sad but true. We hate the fact.

      3. Yes,I’m not sure if I ever seen it that’s why I’ve asked. Usually there’s always a parking outside. Hopefully it will change one day. Cars & beach doesn’t mix together well ✌️

      4. Been a hundred years so far. Don’t think it is going to change.

      5. You have the best emojis.

      6. 💙💙😂Yep

  15. Looks like a great event.

    1. It was. I was surprised.

  16. Spending the whole day at the beach, or at the art fair? It would have been the art fair for me, John. Looks like it was the perfect day for it.

    1. It was perfect. Nice breeze.

  17. I’d be at the air fair also – the beach looked far too crowded.

  18. I agree. I would be at the art fair and the beach when it’s much less crowded. 🙂

    1. Yeah like tomorrow.

  19. The man-of-war is beautiful. A much better way to spend the day.

    1. I thought so. Thanks, Audrey.

  20. Good choice since it didn’t look nearly as crowded as the beach.

I really liked Noel’s sea turtle painting. She’s good!

    1. She is. We have one of her pelican paintings that we adore.

  21. Loved the artwork by Noel Stephenson

    1. She is good for sure.

  22. I’m really behind this week. I am with you, John. On days like these, I would stay away from the beach, but what a lovely art fair to attend. The flowered surfboard is gorgeous!

    1. Thank you, Michelle. 😀

      1. My pleasure, John!
