Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Twiggy

“I know it’s Friday Dad. I need a weekend for sure.”

Friday again. This week has been all about the weather. Named storms have been forming up and Florence is projected to make landfall this morning. We have to pray that all the precautions have been enough to save human life on the East Coast. We have been lucky here in Texas in that Invest 95L is not expected to rise to hurricane strength. It will bring three to five inches of rain but that is way better than what is expected for Florence. There have been over one million people who have evacuated away from the Eastern coastal towns. Let’s hope that those who chose to stay are spared as well.

This week’s JohnKu talks about the power of nature. I hope you have a peaceful weekend.

Nature’s Power by John W. Howell © 2108

When all is quiet,

Then suddenly there’s a storm . . .

Pointed reminder.

We’re keeping a wide swath of the country in our prayers this weekend. 3-5” of rain is a lot, John. I hope everyone in your area can handle it.

Give Twiggy some weekend love 🙂

We can handle the rain. Will be a little flooding but sure beats 136 mile an hour winds.

We all try to fix or control, and yet there are many storms in life that are beyond our capabilities. And so we do what we can … and pray. Beautiful Johnku and reflection, John. P.S. I love the photo of Twiggy. 😀

Florence is wet and can’t move. she’s expected to drop about 30 inches in some places before it’s over. Due to wind currents she might not be able to head north for 3 more days.
[Is it my imagination, or is Twiggy putting on weight?]

Twiggy is growing up. She still has a layer of baby fat but is now 15 pounds. She was 1.9 pounds when she came to us.

I’d say that is surely putting on weight!

The JohnKu is right-on about life too. At least Invest 95L is not “extremely big and extremely wet.”

We are happy to have an Invest 95L as opposed to a Harvey.

I have family in the NC area and have been glued to the hurricane track. I know you are acquainted first-hand with the damage these storms can do. Glad to hear the latest in your area isn’t going to turn into a threat. Have a great Friday, John. Sending you wishes for a happy weekend!

A beautiful Johnku, and so apt. I’m relieved to have the forecast for my area much better than it was a few days ago. Although the ground is already so saturated that we have had “falling tree alerts”… so losing power is a concern. I shudder to think about what others face.
Oh John… Twiggy is so grown up. That happened in no time at all. TGIF hugs!

We’re so sick of rain. Twelve out of the past thirteen days have been mostly washouts, and I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen the sun. Of course, ten years ago yesterday was Ike’s landfall. Grumping about seemingly endless rain is preferable to that — or Harvey, or Flo, or any of that bunch.

Yes, let’s all hope those who decided to stay come through it okay. I checked the map and Greensboro, where my son and family live, is in a safe area. I’m glad you’re just getting rain this time. That’s a darling picture of Twiggy with her toys. 🙂 — Suzanne

We’ve had a string of practically perfect weather, John, and I can assure you we don’t take that for granted. Prayers for those in the path of Flo et. al. — here’s hoping these storms tire of their antics and head out to sea!

Hello John! I’m sending prayers of protection and good vibes up to the Carolinas. I have family in both south and north Carolina, so we’ve been trying to get in touch. There’s a lot of flooding. Your Haiku is right on point. Very good. Have a happy weekend. 😀 xx

On my way to work, I heard a woman and her 8-month old baby died, due to a tree falling on their house. So very sad. The father is injured but will survive. Just heard three more lives were lost. I am so hoping that is the end of it. I have some friends in the Carolinas so am keeping a watch as there is nothing else we can do!
Wonderful Johnku and pic of Twiggy!
