It is a lot cooler out here, Little One.”
“It sure is. Something’s wrong.”
“Something’s not wrong. It has rained, is all.”
“Wait. You mean we actually got rain?”
“Yup. Looks like we had a good one too.”
“I can smell it. There is the scent of refreshment in the air.”
“If you say so. I just think it smells like wet.”
“I think your poetic license got suspended. But, yeah, it does look wet.”
“Want to see how much rain we got?”
“How do we do that? It’s all in the ground now.”
“See that little yellow thing on the fence?”
“Yeah. I see it. What is it?”
“It’s a rain gage. It tells us how much rain fell.”
“Well, you can look around and see it is more than we’ve had for a while.”
“You are right, but the gage tells us we had almost nine-tenths of an inch.”
“How can you see that from there? Maybe Dad will give us a close-up.”
“Here you go, kids. The water line is hard to see, but it is just above that crack in the gage where the big 1 is located.”
“I see it now. Thanks, Dad.
“You ready to go and play something?”
“I think I want to enjoy this cool air some more.”

Yay for rain!
After the day I had yesterday, it seems my poetic license got suspended too, and it looks like I’m in the dog house … hope the girls don’t mind sharing, lols! 😂
I love the petrichor after rain … mmm! Have a great day, John 💕🙂

Lucky. We keep wanting rain here. It’s hitting a couple miles north, but not here. Rather frustrating to see the storm clouds while standing on your dead lawn.

This is why I have zeroscape. I used to sweat and worry over the lawn. Thanks, Charles.

Rain is so unpredictable. Some places in Texas got flooded so I suppose you are fortunate not to have been on the receiving end of that. We had an inch overnight on Sunday.

The girls are right; rain has a scent. We’ve had enough that rain lilies are popping up everywhere, and another scent is in the air: the scent of grass being cut. The mowers risk falling behind. There’s no need to worry about that at your place.

My only worry is what to do with the old lawnmower. I gave away one and now the newest is in the garage. Not much of a market here with so many lawn services.

Call me old. But both my wife and I check our weather app on the iPhone about 10 times a day.
And, YES, I love the smell of rain.
Is there a name for that ? 😃

We have the same problem here. The rain cuts around us for some reason.

Judging from news reports, that might not be a bad thing. Your rain is different than anything I’m used to.

How wonderful that you got some much-needed rain! Every bit helps when it’s been so hot and dry. My dad used to love sitting on the porch and smelling the rain — he always said it washed the “crud” away.

That should keep the dog hair from falling onto the tile floor…. maybe.
So, now Twiggy and Lucy have me debating between “scent of refreshment in the air” and it just smells wet.
So much to think about! 🧐
Hope I don’t get a headache.

How about this Wet = Scent. Rain = Scent. Rain = Wet. Therefore Scent = Scent. So the whole thing doesn’t matter. X👀O

Your equation looks logical, at first glance.
However, I was on track with:
Wet + Scent – Rain = Scent – S = Cent
Cent +re = Centre.
