“I can’t help feeling there should be more to life, Lucy.”
“What do you mean more? We have all we want to eat, drink, and are safe. What more is there?”
“I’m not sure, but every day seems to be the same ole same ole.”
“I always take that as a good thing. I don’t really like surprises.”
“I’m not talking surprises, but maybe we should be going to school or something.”
“We’ve been to school. Look at us a couple of happy dogs living the life. But, hey, don’t lie down. We have games to play.”
“I still don’t think you understand what I’m saying.”
“No, I guess I don’t. So come with me, and we’ll continue to talk.”
“Don’t you ever want to do something different?”
“Like fly an airplane or drive a car different?”
“No, but think about it. We get up every day and do the same stuff.”
“Let me ask you. What of the same old stuff would you like to eliminate?”
Hmmm. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure.”
“How about not having enough to eat. That would be different.”
“I see where you are going with this. Not enough to eat would be different but not a good different.”
“Exactly. The same with your house, yard, taking naps, going for walks, chasing a ball, and playing with me.”
“Those are all things I would miss if they were gone.”
“So maybe you should be a little more grateful for them.”
“Okay. I see what you mean, and I have been very first world in taking all that for granted.”
“Now you’re talking. How about a game of tag, then?”
“You hear that? I think there is a puma over there.”
“Let’s go get it then.”
Love your girls, John. ❤ How to stay in the moment….much love to you all. ❤ xXx

Thank God they didn’t take puma hunting off the list. That would be tragic.
Thanks for the smiles, John. And the gentle reminder to be grateful for what we have. Give the girls belly rubs from me.

Lucy knows how to analyze – comes with age I suppose.
John, when exactly does that ‘wisdom comes with age’ supposed to kick in? I’m still waiting.

Unfortunately for us, GP there is still that teenager deep inside. Tough for wisdom to compete.

Twiggy was that close to the philosophical curse… “May you live in interesting times…” And for the moment let us not let google translate that. No doubt that too would come out er interestingly.

There’s something to be said about the calming effect of ‘same ol’, same ol’’on the other hand, something different occasionally is good, too. I’ll think more about it when I get back from PT (the back)…

Yes pay attention to the back and leave the philosophical stuff till later. Thanks, Steve.

LOL. A lovely reminder of the importance of gratitude, John. I used to keep a gratitude journal, and it could only be about things, especially simple things, for which I could FEEL true gratitude, not the obligatory statements society demands like family, health, etc. I’m grateful to have you in my blog circle. Hugs on the wing.

Those girls get pretty deep at times. I’m afraid all my dogs think about is when they’ll get their next snack and when they’ll get their next walk. They sure love their routines. I can set my watch to them!

Hi John, this is such a cute post. I’ve just had a similar conversation with my husband but mine went more along the lines of: I wouldn’t be able to write a memoir of my adult life because it’s so uneventful – same house, same husband, no family dramas or secrets. His reaction was pretty much the same as Lucy’s – haha!
