Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy

“Hey, Twiggy, you going to play outside today?”

“Dad, this over 100 degrees is not the best for play.”

“Yeah, I understand. So maybe there is something fun to do inside.”

“One of the best things is a nap.”

“You can always do that. How about playing with chuck-it?”

“That is always fun. Let’s start there.”

“Here you go. A couple of bounces.”

“Hmm. Not sure about this.”

“What’s the matter?”

“It works better in the yard where I have to chase it.”

“We know that. This is an interim accommodation to the weather.”

“I think we should think harder about the accommodation.”

“How about watermelon?”

“Played with that today already.”

“Here is a wide selection. Honey Pot, Mr. Eel, Lamby, and Bee Mine.”

“All good friends, for sure.”

“Yes, good friends. How about good playmates?”

“Hold on, Dad. I have this pesky itch.”

“Where you going?”

“Gonna see if Mom has any ideas. I think we are through here.”

  1. Awww, such wonderful ideas … you tried your best, John 😂😉 I know all about the hot-weather blues … after a summer of wind and rain, we now have the start of autumn in the 30s, which for us is hot. No build up to acclimatise either. Have a good upcoming weekend. Hugs 🤗💕🙂

  2. Poor thing. This weather has everyone miserable. Good thing Twiggy has such good play friends. And I bet Mom had some ideas for her. When she gets bored today, please give her some belly rubs from me. Thanks for the smiles, John.

  3. Such a sweet exchange. I suspect Mom is busy in the kitchen and will send Twiggy back to you. The only real solution is providing Twiggy with another 4-legged playmate. 😉

  4. I feel sad that Twiggy can’t play outside. It’s hot here too in New York, but know it’s doubly hot there. I love the picture with all her toys. Mr. Eel produced a big grin, and of course Bee Mine is a favorite of mine.

You’re go good John, how you make a hot day still fun.

  5. They don’t call these “dog days” for nothing, Miss Twiggy. I can see you’re bored with your toys. When Monk gets that way, I hide a few of them so when I bring them back out, they’re new and interesting. Cheaper than going to Petsmart or Chewy once a week!

  6. That’s the way it goes. Outside in the heat, one feels ready for a nap, but once inside and cooler the urge to play returns. I think you’ll keep her happy with occasional help from Mom.

  7. Have you ever considered a play date for her? One of my friends takes her dog once a week for a couple of hours — the place they go has everything from an air conditioned space to a swimming pool for the doggies!

      1. That’s really sad. There are children who suffer the same effects. If there are school mask mandates and/or closures coming, I’m going to be one down at the school board meeting making a fool of myself.

  8. Oh! Mr. Eel! Always cheerful. Let’s hope he will help Twiggy to get used to new reality, dear John. I’m sorry to learn about 100 degrees. We also have +34. Let’s pray for rain & happy Twiggy chasing pesky squirrels again.🙂🍻🍤🍤🍤 More icy beer!

  9. Thanks for this visit with Twiggy, John. Daphne & Velma agree. In response to the endless 100 degree days, they moved playtime to 3AM. Hugs.

  10. Cooler weather is coming, Twiggy!
Soon you’ll have dad bouncing around out there. …Erm… bouncing chuck-it out there.
Whatever bounces whomever, cooler days are coming!
