The annual Lakeway Walk of Lights officially opened on Friday. Using my time travel alarm, we are going back to join the festivities. We’re being catered by Craigo’s pizza, and there are smores and hot chocolate as well. Our entertainment is Michael Bublé.

Let’s go.

The giant screen is playing A Christmas Story and one of the best scenes.

Who put the Howdy in Holidays?

Santa will be here after he lights the walk.

The bookmobile is here, too.

A place to write and mail a letter to Santa.

Face painting.

Ah, the fire to roast marshmallows for smores.

There’s Craigos.

Hot chocolate (After all, it’s 64 degrees F and 17.7 C.)

A reindeer to ride.

Ornaments to make.

Cookies to decorate.

The Liebolt cabin to visit.

The mayor introduces Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The countdown to plugging in the Trail of Lights (notice the lights in the upper right-hand corner)

Santa is happy the lights work.

A quick view of the trail.

Another view.

And another. We may need to come back for a trail tour, but for now, we should relax with the music and pizza.

Nice 👌

Howdy Holidays!! I love it. Nice to see the bookmobile and Michael Buble too. Let’s have the pizza after the reindeer ride.

I think eating pizza after the ride is a very smart way to go. Thanks, Darlene. 😁

A nice (and not overly commercial) start to the season. Rather envious of the 17.7°C – we’re struggling to make 2°C during the day this weekend!

That does seem cold. Of course to us 17 seems chilly.

WOW!! That looks like such a fun event! I think I’ll skip the pizza and go straight for the cookies.

You live a wonderful life. We used to go to the park in Austin with our children. They would turn around looking up into the tree of lights, get dizzy, great fun. When we moved to East Texas, I decided to do one like it under a pecan tree in my front yard. I plugged them all together, hoisted them to a high limb with a pulley and staked the hanging end in a circle – lots of nice compliments. In January, I noticed a soft spot in my yard, in Februrary we replaced the drain to the street. Two 1″x2″ holes and a long crack between them from the “Christmas Tree” were only 8 grand to replace. But we had fun.

Great story, Woody. You came in as anonymous. When WP says sign in is optional they are lying. It is optional only if you don’t want to be I’d. I knew you by your IP address. Thanks for sharing that story.

What fun, John. The cookie-decorating guy looks kinda lonely. I bet Twiggy could offer some excitement. 😉

Gee, you can actually enjoy Christmas lights in 64-degree weather? How wonderful. All our folks are bundled up like the Michelin Man, and I didn’t see a single cup of hot cocoa to sip. Y’all do it up right!!

Hey John, nice to be back here and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Season. Mrs. Chess would certainly be visiting the hot chocolate stand, and we’d both enjoy the cookie decorating…although admittedly most of the time I’m wearing most of the icing instead of the cookies…

“Who put the Howdy in Holidays?” Since the “H” seems to be out (aka dropped) in Holidays, I expect it was someone with a Cockney, transplanted to Texas. 😉 Hugs.
