Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Inside

“Ah, it looks like the sun is heading South.”

“I thought the sunset in the West.”

“It does. I was just making my own imagery of how it seems to go down.”

“Oh, I get it. It’s like when you say this game is going South.

“You have it for sure. Speaking of games, is there anything you want to play?”

“I think it’s getting close to dinner. Besides, I hear the gentle rumble of the UPS van. He is within a couple of miles.”

“I think I hear him too. This is serious stuff if he thinks he can stop here.”

“It has been a while since we taught him a lesson.”

“Are you picking up the same vibe I am?”

“You mean the going away vibe instead of the coming to vibe?”

“Exactly. How could this happen? What were we doing that we missed the coming to?”

“We were flapping our gums, that’s what. Can’t hear when we are talking.”

“Look at that. The package is even in the house. Two losers.”

“You know what? I think this sucker was delivered earlier while we were napping.”

“Let me take a sniff. Yeah, this has day-old cardboard stench all over it.”

“You mean it might have been delivered at night?”

“I do pick up the essence of the night. I think you’re right.”

“Let me up on it. I’ll give it the once over.”

“Do you get that night’s wildness finish?”

“I do. I think Mom just brought this into the house. That night’s wildness is pretty strong.”

“I’ll tell ya. I must be getting old to let a night delivery go by without throwing a barking fit could wake the dead.”

“Don’t be too tough on yourself. I missed it, too.”

“But you are a beginner. I have the Olympic medal for barking and the ability to sense even the quietest package delivery.”

“Maybe we need to hone our skills. It’s clear the UPS guy has gone to school on past deliveries.”

“You just may be right. Let’s talk after dinner.”

  1. Around the parcel they are behaving like two of a bomb squad. Lol You only have to give them the right darkblue clothing, with the needful patches. So Lakeway will have it’s own dog squad couple. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

By the way, they have a really nice playground now. 🙂

  2. A question just occurred to me: do they have different barks and behaviors for different delivery people? Can you tell if Amazon, UPS, or FexEx is coming by the way they sound? Or do they employ a generic delivery bark?

  3. John, as an amateur photographer, your use of the sun and the dark-light features was great.

Love the back and forth of the dogs.

You should put a sign on your door to ring the bell 3 or 4 times and knock when delivering a package.

    Have fun !!

  4. Uh-oh, the girls are falling down on their job! Monk has taken to lying in wait near the front door, just hoping to ambush the delivery vans. I’m sure those drivers are praying the front door holds!

  5. Your “essence of the night” and “night’s wildness finish” could have been describing perfume or even a good cabernet cauvignon. A pleasant change from “day old cardboard stench.” And you captured that golden sunlight beaming into your home. Well done.

  6. This is a first, Boss.

A cold cardboard case with special investigators Tempeste and Twiggy reporting. There’s going to be heck to pay for this, but I think the girls are going to be punishing themselves for the oversight until they get another chance at the UPS guy. So go easy on ’em Chief.

  7. Ah the unique layering of scents on packages. I got one the other day, that was particularly interesting to Daphne… no idea why it was so much more fascinating than anything else. Have a great weekend, John. Thanks for this visit with the girls. Hugs.

  8. Gee, Twiggy and Tempeste, you sure blew that bark off.

Well, don’t be too upset. It’s the holiday season. There could be many deliveries headed your way.

Hey, what about doing your “wake the dead” barkings when the neighbours get deliveries?

Just think, you could be barking all day long!

        1. Got ’em!
Great answers, and they will help make a fab post. I ran out of drawing paper!! 😱😬
          Nonetheless, I have 4 started, 3 which I like a lot.
Tomorrow I’m off to the art supply store.
It’s all Cloud Wear. Will send pics when they are done, and any other questions I have as I work on the post!

  9. Lol, great show today John, they looked like Holmes and Watson, lol. Last week they were complaining about their jackets, now they’re too busy staying in and napping and missing out on discoveries. Lol 🙂

  10. Perhaps the UPS guy was in stealth mode so Twiggy wouldn’t bark him all the way to Tulsa. Then again, there is the mysterious night air scent. Everyone know that, especially the girls when it’s on packages. ‘Tis a mystery that only a good nap can solve.
