Views of the Neighborhood – Lakeway City Hall Art Show

After last week’s disaster, I’m happy to report that this week’s trip to the Lakeway City Hall Art show will be a success. The lights and art cooperated.  We are catered by Stella San Jac of Austin. Our entertainment is Don McLean.
Before we go, I want you to know that I will be traveling and on a break from Wednesday March 12th until Wednesday March 19th. I will be off-line for the whole week. Tempeste and Twiggy will be back on the 20th.

I have been working in business for over forty years and now have the time to work in special areas of interest. My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone. The one time I read a piece to a person their only comment was, “it doesn’t rhyme.” I will continue to write and hopefully my blog, Fiction Favorites at www.johnwhowell.com will provide some entertainment and an interesting thought or two.   3. Thanks for the art show tour. I loved Hill Country Spring – and the cows! As for food, that French toast is very tempting. Have a good time wherever you are heading to. I am off to Utah during the same time.

    1. Thank you, Tom. I bought the first Mad magazine when it came out in 1953. I was a loyal reader until high school. After that I enjoyed an issue or two as I came across them.

  6. I love his Hill Country Spring! It reminds me very much of a trip I took years ago to Denton for a workshop of some sort. The bluebonnets and paintbrush were in full bloom and were gasp-worthy! (Enjoy your time away and safe travels!)

    1. I love that song, too. Van Gogh had such an unhappy life and would be amazed at how much people love his work today. As a side note, when I was a radio guy, I loved it when American Pie by Don McLean appeared in the rotation. It is an over-eight-minute song, which meant a potty stop and a new cup of coffee. Happy Sunday to you, mon ami.

      1. He did. When I went to see that Impressionists 3D event, my girlfriend heard, for the first time, the lyrics. She had never realised what was being sung before and to hear the song while the scrolled the images of his paintings was magical and very touching.

        And I love that! Radio guy… Seriously, John… are you starting your memoirs yet?

  20. I really like all of Andy’s warm colors. My favorite is the second one with all of those colorful flowers in the foreground.

    You took fab shots!

    Andy has a unique sense of colour, very pleasing. It reminds me somewhat of old Kodachrome colours, predominating with the green end of its spectrum.

    The blues are more Tecnicolor.
