“Twiggy. Wake up. I hear something.”
“Mmffmm.”

“I’m serious. There is something out there.”
“Ummmf. Huh?”

“We have to get up and find out what it is.”
“My goodness I just dozed off.”

“There it is again. You hears that?”
“I sure do. Funny I didn’t hear the FedEx truck either.”

“That’s what I mean. It is some kind of weird sound.”
“I guess it is up to me to figure it out.”

“There it is again. I would swear it is at the front door.”
“I don’t smell the Amazon or UPS driver either.”

“You see anything?”
“Nope and I haven’t heard that noise again.”

“It is scary that we can’t identify the source.”
“Just wait. If it’s still there it will make more noise.”

“There it is at the front door.”
“Hold your bark till we are sure it is something that we can send to St. Louis.”

“Hey you guys. I know you’re in there. Where’s my carrots?”
“Oh, brother.”

“You going to attack or shall I?”
“Let’s go back to our nap. Mom will get the carrots for those moochers.”

Bless your girls standing guard. A deer, John, how wonderful. Much love to you all. Xxx 🩷

Wow …. instead of barking the deer toward St. Louis, they gave way to carrots from Mom? They must have been dreaming this.

I suspect that’s not that deer’s first visit. One clue’s the mention of carrots; the other is the lack of a chorus of barks.

That’s impressive you get a Deer at the front door and the girls don’t bark! Do you feed the Deer carrots like Dan feeds the birds, and squirrels peanuts? Two weeks ago we had a small herd of mostly Does feeding on the new sweet golf course’s grass out back. They were there several evenings feeding themselves then retreated back to the sagebrush. I guess they’ve moved on as I’ve not seen them since.

It’s good to see we’re not the only ones who have beggars coming to the door for handouts. I didn’t know deer like carrots. Bunnies do, and we get that look if we don’t put them in the yard. Nice that the girls are on top of this.

I love how sleepy Twiggy looks at first while Tempeste is on high alert. You can tell Twiggy has had more experience. I’m always so charmed by your house by the way. Those girls sure have it made.

Thank you, Susannah. The latest addition is the ramp to keep Tempeste from jumping off the back of the sofa. So far, it is working. She actually goes out of her way to use it. We like the fact that the house is on one floor. 😊

I wish we had deer here. We have coyotes, racoons and skunks. Do you have those too?
I’m happy you didn’t scare the deer. However, I’d LOVE to see you send a Fed-Ex guy to St. Louis!
