It is. What is really cool is seeing the little ones grow. They start out so fragile and then become stronger.

Good tour. All the deer are pretty, but isn’t the boss just a grand figure?!!
Center-cut prime rib, please.

I enjoyed the deer pictures very much. The song took this post over the top. Fits with the weekend we’re having. Our PoPo is “downsizing” preparing to meet his maker. At least that’s what he’s saying. Dear time 💝 a precious gift.

I shared the video on its own on FB. It’s how we’re keeping tabs with B’s family. Several of us are in this position. Not sure if you allow reblog but this post is meant to be viral 😄

I would get nothing done around the house–I’d be taking photos constantly. How great is that to have those deer walking around like that?!
Speaking of great….fabulous music. I had never heard this before.

Thanks, Lois. The song is good, and I do spend too much time taking photos of the deer.

Curious if the deer help with maintaining certain aspects of the environment. I know out east from me, people complain about them eating bushes and lawns.
LikeLiked by 1 person
We pretty much keep the plants and bushes in varieties that they don’t care for. Yes, they do graze on the lawns but cause very little damage.

The deer are lovely – how do you keep them from overpopulating? Do people feed them? Are they pretty tame?
That red fish looks very good!

The deer go through a life cycle where the old ones die, and sadly, some fawns get killed and eaten by coyotes. There is a balance. Some people feed them corn, which is very bad for them. It stifles appetite and has little nutritional value. We feed them a small amount of carrots.

It must be hard not to make them pets!

One does take carrots from The Producer’s hand. She was a fawn last year.

I love seeing all these gorgeous deer — especially “The boss” — in your neighborhood, John. It amazes me to no end to see how calm they appear. Watchful, to be sure, but not like they’re ready to bolt. Of course, I didn’t see any herding dogs in the photos either!

I think herding dogs would have made a difference. Thanks, Debbie. 😀

They are so beautiful. I loved the Buck with its backlit antlers glowing in the sunlight, and seeing all the young bucks with their new antler covered in velvet. The Fawns…so, so sweet. I love their spots!

The spots on the older ones are beginning to disappear. The one that comes to our house has lost almost all of hers.

I love seeing these guys, John. They look like they’re really comfortable in the neighborhood. I guess they’re aware that they aren’t in any danger.
I’ll go with the prime rib, but the smaller portion.

I think they are comfortable. It’s been 60 years since deer and humans have lived in the same community.

You have a lot of deer in your neighborhood. Great photos. The menu was very meaty today but no venison. Just kidding. They are beautiful animals.

Yes, they are losing their spots and growing like weeds. We have one who takes carrots from The Producer’s hand. She is almost as big as her mother.
