Views of the Neighborhood – Leftover Holiday Decorations

Now that all the ice is gone from the neighborhood and the holidays are past, let’s take a tour and see how many decorations are left over. We are catered by Aba in Austin. Our entertainment is NSYNC.

Let’s get on the bus.

Okay, we have some wreaths and lights. It could be a winter decoration, but maybe not.

Deflated penguin from Frozen. Not only left over but sad.

Definitely left over lights and a hat. Let’s not even discuss the green folks, dragons, and other stuff.

Definitely need to come down. Leftover decorations.

Holiday decorations for sure. I hope whatever is in the packages is water- and freeze-resistant.

Holiday lights for sure, unless these folks need the light to find the front door.

Could be playmates for the deer in the neighborhood. Nah. Leftover decoration

A beacon for the mail person? I don’t think so. Leftover decoration.

Yes, I had to take the photo from behind, but it still counts as a leftover decoration.

At least it is out of the house. So it doesn’t count as a leftover decoration.

We have finished the tour, and it is time for food and music. I hope you have a lovely week.

I never understand why folks don’t put their Christmas decorations away. The food looks very good, hard to decide.

I was very surprised to see them still up. I also saw a pumpkin but went by too fast to take a photo. Have a great week, Darlene.

Neighbors still have lights up, but they also have kids so the parents may have been outvoted. Still cheerful (and not those inflatables). ha

Inflatables are the worst. Thanks, Joy.

Time to box that stuff up. Valentines Day and St. Patrick’s Day are coming.

Yeah. A big red heart and shamrock on the wreath would work.

Ha ha ha. That’s why it should be tucked away in a cozy place. Thanks, Kymber.

Living in Michigan, I can understand why people want to keep the Christmas lights up. If there isn’t snow on the ground, reflecting
the light, it’s often very overcast and gloomy here.

But as much as I like Christmas lights, I usually make a point to get mine down during the first week of January – shortly before I return to teaching after holiday

Some folks leave the decorations up for quite a while, and they look nice. I wonder why, but I don’t disapprove.

I don’t know why either. It’s not like there is snow to get in the way or anything.

You know we have snow up here, John. Our mornings are above zero now, thank goodness. 😊

I would love the bagel with salmon – we are “snowed in” this morning – we had 3 inches – and everything is closed (it’s the South). I loved the boy bands so the music this morning is wonderful!

The bagel looked good to me, too. NSYNC had a lot of energy.

Here in Central Illinois, where temps have been way below freezing and there’s a bunch of snow on the ground, I can understand folks not wanting to remove Christmas decorations. Besides the cold, it’s kind of nice seeing lights on these gray days. Still, I got mine down during the one day we had that wasn’t horrid. Part of me finds that deflated penguin awfully sad, and that Christmas tree is just begging to be recycled.

Fun discoveries, John. They are certainly slow in being put away. Fab trip. Bet having the girls keep you from keeping Christmas decorations up until after Valentine’s Day

I gave up putting lights and decorations anywhere that required a ladder to get them down. The weather never cooperates.

I’ll have that skirt steak & eggs – fried eggs, crispy potato, tzatziki (I had to look that up, but it looks pretty good).

Hahaha laughing at the left over decoration. We have rats in the attic we’re trapping out so the xmas clutter is still in the room waiting to go back “home”. My mantra.. “go with the flow”. Xmas in February.. yikes. xx

In our cold temps, you can understand why the decorations stick around for a bit… they wait until they are sure not to get frostbite! I have taken walks in March and noted the decorations still up! Now that is ridiculous…

Maybe they just forgot to bring in that last one. The green Martian? group is really weird but I guess the Santa hat was their nod to Christmas. I’ll have the avocado toast, thank you. Glad to have the regular bus back.

In Sweden (my native country) you throw out the Christmas decorations on January 13 (tjugondaknut). I guess here in Texas it is sometime in July.

There’s a house I pass on the way to the gym where they leave a couple of skeletons sitting on a bench year round – but they’re dressed up for each holiday. It’s always amusing to see them wearing bunny ears around Easter.

In the UK, all Christmas decorations must be down by 6 Jan or it’s bad luck 🍀

While I took my decor down Christmas afternoon (I always take it down right after gifts have been opened), I did the Christmas cards that had been forwarded from the post office but they’re gone now. 😉 Funny folks in your neighborhood (and a couple just weird-the alien house with all the other stuff-whoa!).
