Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Check out the New Fence

“Tempeste, why aren’t you testing the fence?”

“For one, this tasty leaf needs to be finished.”

“Is there a for two?”

“Well, from here it looks mighty wicked.”

“What do you mean, ‘wicked?'”

“It might be electrified.”

“Dad would never do that.”

“He would get pretty excited when I busted through the old one.”

“Yeah, but this looks like it is made pretty well.”

“It does look substantial. I don’t see any wires.”

“For heaven’s sake. It won’t be wired.”

“But it is all creepy and black. You can hardly see it.”

“Go ahead and touch your nose to it.”

“If I get shocked, I’m going to be really mad at you.”

“Well, you satisfied it’s not electrified?”

Sure am. Now I have to figure a way out of here.”

“I can’t believe you. You have everything you want. The fence is because you eat every leaf you can find. Why not stop the leaf habit, and I’ll bet the fence would disappear.”

“Twiggy. If I could stop the leaf habit, I would. You are right about having everything right here. It’s just there are so many leaves outside this fence.”

“How about forgetting about the leaves and just enjoying the day. A few will blow in that you can pounce on.”

“So true, sister. Alright, I’ll forget about the great escape. Why are you smelling that chair?”

“Great. I’m smelling this chair cause someone used some kind of cleaner on it.”

“That sounds like normal behavior. And you get on me about leaves.”

  1. I wonder if its the taste or the texture that makes the leaves so appealing. There are plenty of chips that aren’t top of the line tasty, but I’ll eat them because of the crunch!

    1. There are two things she likes. The crunch is one, and the idea of tearing the leaf away from the stem and then pulling on the stem is another. Of course, there are the young green leaves that she chews and swallows. So far, we have kept consumption down to a dull roar and no bad side effects. To your chip comment, I will eat anything chip-like in a bag and salty. Thanks, Linda.

  2. It’s sure nice to see the girls, John, and I’m glad you post them. The fence is a good idea to protect the plants. I don’t know if there’s a way to teach her not to go after the plants.

  3. French girls are different from other girls. Inky Dinky Parlez vous…and all that jazz. In other words, Tempeste Howell just can’t help herself, as I see it. Bon jour mon amie,, the extent of my French.

  4. Tell Tempeste she is not alone. I have some indoor plants that were removed to the patio because they’d been eaten down to the stems. Both cats. Now they snuffle around looking for dead leaves from the one remaining indoor plant, which is on a table.

Twiggy, as always, is the voice of reason.

I love the antics of these two. Ear scratches being sent!

  6. John The Fence Builder. It has a nice ring to it. Maybe a moat or one of your other security devices. How about a very loud noise or voice activated system ? Just thinking how to help you with this problem.

  7. It is so funny that Tempeste has a leaf addiction. They will get used to their new nice fence. BTW this evening I ordered 12 Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA using door dash and I got them. I decided on Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA instead of Voodoo Ranger IPA because I like it a bit better but it worked. So your fiction story was part faction.

  8. I’m glad the Great Panther Escape of 2026 has been thwarted. Nice fence, John. Now if we could figure out a way to deal with the leaves…

Sending the girls belly rubs. Happy Memorial Day to you all.

  9. Uh-oh…looks like your Dad went industrial on the fencing, Tempeste. Sorry for you; just know a protective ‘pawrent’ sometimes has to go full Monty when keeping their fur baby safe. P.S. to your Dad, great looking fence. And it keeps the baby safe. Win-win. 🐶

  10. Tempeste -LEAF the leaves alone! They are not doggy salad.

Nice fence Twiggy. It seems you have the right answer and attitude about the whole leaf/fence thing.

Still, do you think Tempeste will ever rake in her taste for leaves?
