Views of the Neighborhood – Lake Travis in Lakeway

Today, we are visiting Lake Travis in Lakeway. Since the heavy rain last week, the lake is completely full. I thought it would be fun to take a look at the lake at its lowest point and then see how it looks today at its highest. We are catered by ATX Cocina Restaurant in Austin. Our entertainment is David Bowie.

BRUNCH MENU

TOSTADA DE AGUACHILE VERDE – shrimp, cucumber-jalapeño broth, avocado, smoked trout roe pico, radish

  3. John, great pictures. Your before and after shots are amazing. That happens around here sometimes and it is awful. But the waters generally recover. Tough on people with boats at their backyard docks. The boats nearly sitting on the sand-dirt bottoms. Nature is always a guessing game.

    PS: tell James he gets up too early !!

  4. Such a contrast to see, John. I remember once at Clearlake, they were talking about selling homes out in the middle of the lake since it had gone down sooo much and then it filled up again.

  7. Glad you all got some rain! And a lot! We are having the drought problems here, but just had three days of rain to help. Just not enough. This rain/no rain seems to be cyclical.

    Have a super rest of the weekend., and I do like chilaquiles.

  21. Wow, what a remarkable difference. And you captured it well. Mother Nature does what she wants. But where do the fish go, if they were ever there to start ? That pork sounds good. I’ll take two. First Bowie video I’ve seen and I loved it. Great song.

  24. What an incredible difference! The neighborhood where we previously lived in SC has lake front homes – but that depended on how high the water was. The water level was determined by the Corps of Engineers, so sometimes the docks sat on dry land.

  26. Those before and after shots are truly amazing, John. Clearly illustrates how bad things were. Here is hoping there is no return to those 2022 times. That success deserves the consumption of a burrito (more than one likely) in the Lake’s honor!
