Today we are heading to the City Hall Park in Lakeway to check out the Hispanic Heritage Story Walk. The Guest House of Austin is catering for us. Our entertainment is Herb Alpert.

Let’s go.
A word about the photos. The walk has 27 stops. Today we will view 15, and next week the balance. The placards are behind glass, so even on a dull day, the trees cast serious reflections. The solution is a large black cloth held behind me as I photograph. Unfortunately, that requires someone to hold the cloth. Twiggy, Tempeste, and The Producer were busy when it was time for the photo shoot. I cropped and edited the photos to make them easier to read. You can enlarge the photos for easier reading. Not perfect, but I hope you enjoy.

There is the sign.

An introduction to Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Sombrero.

Music.

Carnaval.

The Aztec city of Tenochtitlán.

Well, that’s it for today. Time to enjoy the music and food. I hope you have a super week.

It’s difficult photographing posters and more so when the staff is a no show. Probably on the dance floor. Oh, 1 seafood platter, please. Have a great day!

These placards are very informative, John. I do know some of this because I have an interest in ancient South American civilizations.

I swear, I glanced at Tenochtitlán on first blush and thought it was going to be a guy who hooked up computers. I’d better have my second cup of coffee.

You did a good job on the photos, John. Ah, Herb Alpert … I believe I had a crush on him when I was too young to know what a crush was 🙂

What a wonderful community initiative by Lakeway, John! You did a fantastic job editing around those tricky glass reflections—though it’s too bad your assistant crew was unavailable for black cloth duty! I had a good laugh over coldhandboyack’s IT guy comment about Tenochtitlán, and srbottch’s joke about the staff being out on the dance floor! I also smiled reading Marie A Bailey’s sweet memory of her childhood crush on Herb Alpert. That seafood platter menu sounds divine, too. Have a great week ahead!
