Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy Sends Tempeste on an Errand

Dear Readers. My blog’s look has changed because I was forced to switch themes to accommodate WordPress (Of Course). My old theme would not allow comments.  I will be working to get it back to a more normal look. I had no notice and only knew about the change because a kind reader sent me a note

“Twiggy, wait up. Where are you going?”

“It’s a good day to be outside. Not too hot.”

“I agree. What are you looking at?”

“I’m not looking. More like feeling.”

“What do you mean feeling?”

“I have this feeling we are not alone.”

“Not alone? What are you saying?”

“Go over to the end of the fence and look around the corner.”

“Is this errand dangerous? What is over there?”

“I don’t think it is anything you can’t handle.”

“That doesn’t give me much comfort. Why don’t you come look?”

“I need to be your backup is why.”

“Okay, I’ve looked. There is nothing there.”

“Nothing you can see, you mean.”

“Nothing is nothing. What’s this all about?”

“I think we have had an interloper in the yard.”

”

“Well, you have me spooked enough. I’m going in.”

“Oh, come on. Like you said, it’s nothing.”

“Nope. I’ve learned that if you think it is something, it’s something.”

“Okay, I’ll confess. I was just getting you ready for Halloween.”

“Well, you did a good job of giving me the willies.”

“This is going to be a good year. You are so easy.”

      1. Dang. That blows! It’s a good reason to be pissed off. Like when you see a notification in your admin section saying your colour scheme has been discontinued, choose something else. Seriously? Why is that necessary?

    1. They just discontinued compatibility between the block editor and certain legacy themes. That’s all. Whether you use the classic editor or not, the block editor controls comments. So, no compatibility means readers can’t comment. Really sucks. I found out this morning.

  1. Wow, the yard/garden is so pristine and beautiful. Bravo to Molly! She would have a heart attack in my humble quarters. Loved the dialog, John. Very playful. 😊

  2. Ahhh, the ole WordPress pulled a prank . Bless their little hearts. Not. Hopefully you’ll get things back to the way you like them. I’m continuing to hang on to the Classic editor-once that’s no longer functional, I’m adios.

and speaking of pranks, looks like Twiggy pulled a number on Tempeste. {Giggles} Well done!

  3. I sorry you had such frustrations, John — not to mention the extra work. WordPress really has reached new heights in lows. The post looks fine, and the girls are a delight as always. LOL, Twiggy is such a trickster.

We have gale force winds here all night and into mid morning tomorrow. I’m too worried to sleep, so I particularly enjoyed having this post as a cheerful distraction. Big hugs. 🤗

  4. The second I clicked, I said something’s different – then your first sentence explained it. Gotta love those WP gremlins. I’m all for Halloween preparation, so I fully support Twiggy’s actions.

  5. LOL! That was so cute. I hope the girls have a fun Halloween. Maybe the Great Pumpkin will bring them some new toys as treats.

Sorry about the forced blog changes, John. I get so tired of adapting to new tech.

  6. Twiggy and Tempeste, maybe it’s dad’s new theme that’s scaring you?

Just kidding! I’m sure its the encroachment of Halloween.

Still dad’s new theme is clean and slick. I like it. I had to change my theme a couple of times, because WP stopped supporting it. I’ve had the one I have now for quite awhile. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until it becomes obsolete.

As for the Blockhead Editor, I love it!

    1. I had my theme for 14 years and had no notice that it was no longer being supported. I guess I need to quit being an old fart and start learning the blockhead process. I’m glad you found the new one okay. Thanks for the supportive words 🎃X 🎃X 🎃X

      1. The new Theme is clean and elegant. I think it suits you.
WP never let me know, either. It was a post many years ago by another blogger.
It said if you click on the 3 dots at the bottom of a post, it will tell you a few things, one being the name of the Theme. If the name of the Theme is not there, it is not supported.

  7. Twiggy sure knows how to pull one over on Tempeste! What cute pups. I’m reading your post on Reader so I haven’t yet seen your new (unasked-for) design. WordPress is really a mixed bag. A while back I had a problem with using the app on my iPad. The “happiness engineers” were actually very helpful with that. I’m still waiting on an update to the app, but they were very communicative and seemed earnest about fixing the problem. That said, other glitches continue, their AI Assistant hasn’t learned enough to be helpful yet, and WordPress seems to want to fix things that aren’t broken. Although I adapted to the Block Editor a long time ago, it’s really getting on my nerves and making it difficult for me to set up a post without wanting to throw my laptop across the room. I seriously thought about giving up, but I’m also not convinced that another platform would be any better.
