Friday JohnKu – AKA TGIF

TGIF

Another Friday is here. Only eight hours until we can think about relaxing. The beautiful thing about Memorial Day on a Monday is the week seems pretty short. A show of hands. How many kept thinking of Monday as Sunday? It is kind of weird when you consider a perfectly nice day like Tuesday as a Monday. Then Wednesday shows up, and you are not even exhausted, so a perfectly good Hump Day goes wasted. Thursday goes by in a flash, and here we are. This makes the idea of a four-day work- week sound exquisite, doesn’t it? Of course, once a four-day is a reality (If ever)  then the target will be a three-day. Are we never satisfied?

Today’s JohnKu talks about satisfaction.

Satisfaction by John W. Howell © 2017

Maslow had it right,

Achieve one satisfaction. . .

Another rears up.

  1. I vote for four day work weeks every week! Great Johnku and the meme…well, that’s just adorable. Happy Friday, John!

    1. Thank you, Jill. I thought you would like it (The meme I mean. Could have fun with those words.) 🙂

  2. I managed to retain my sense of time until Wednesday. Then things got shaky for some reason.

    1. Does happen. I still think today is Thursday.

      1. Nah, it’s National Ferret Day.

      2. I wondered why the parade this morning. Happy Ferret day.

      3. Keep an eye on the shiny stuff.

      4. Oh look. A balloon.

  3. If I wasn’t on the computer so much I’d probably get most days mixed up. That’s what happens when you’ve been retired for a while. The dog in sunglasses is cool. Have a great weekend, John. 🙂 — Suzanne

    1. Thanks, Suzanne. Thank heavens for the reminder on the screen. Have a great weekend. (Yup tomorrow is Saturday.) 😀

Great Johnku – provocative, as I hadn’t thought of satisfaction in that way. One elicits another…love that thought. 😊

    1. The sad thing about humans is how fast we regress once a level of satisfaction is reached. Maslow pointed out the “never satisfied” aspect of human behavior. Thanks, Gwen. 🙂

  5. We need more 4-day weeks. Then we could keep these things straight. You’re right about satisfaction. As we started improving our house, with each repair/improvement, our eyes were drawn to the next ugly thing. Now I have to paint the foundation. It never ends.

    1. I know how that works, Dan. Foundation paint is not fun.. Good luck. 🙂

  6. Oh, how true it is! We human creatures are never satisfied for long. 🙂 Happy Friday, John!

    1. It is part of being human. thanks, Jan 🙂

  7. GR8 JohnKu today, John. I think that the folks in robotics are well on the way to giving many, many people shorter work weeks – and for some, no work days. Have a super weekend, John!

    1. Ouch on the no workdays. Thanks, John

  8. I was completely fouled up this week trying to remember which day was which, but it was a good foul up. Any time a four day work week rolls around, I’ll take it. Of course, like you said, three would be better. A very wise JohnKu 🙂

    1. Thank you, Mae.

  9. Memorial Day messed me up! I thought when I retired I would have no more work weeks – but I find they are defined by people around me and I have also fallen into a sort-of work week with my writing. I use the weekend to recharge, socialize and try to find new things to experience.
I have to admit, even when I was working, a four day week wouldn’t have worked because I was in my lab all the time.

    1. I know what you mean, Nolle. I could never have done a four day myself. Now I’m on a seven day week.

  10. Let’s not push that four-day workweek too fast. As it is, I never find enough time to get done all I want and need!! Lovely JohnKu and that dog made me smile!

    1. Thanks Debbie. Now that I think about it, maybe a five day is best. 😀

  11. Great JohnKu. Maslow sure got it right with his hierarchy of needs.

    1. yes he did. Thanks, Guy. happy weekend to you.

  12. Love the dog. I was mixed up this week also – day off with grad party, out of town for funeral for couple of days, getting ready for beach today. Happy Friday, John!

    1. Yay beach. Have a wonderful time.

  13. Truer words were never written, John! Happy Friday! Have a peaceful weekend. 🎼 Christine

    1. Thank you, Christine. Happy weekend to you.

  14. Even though we are retired we seem to follow that work schedule for Fridays are always good. Did you know that today is National Leave Work Early Day? Cheers for the weekend and leaving work early!

    1. YAY. I left work early today. Thanks, Jo.

  15. Nope. Never satisfied. Is it next Friday yet? Happy weekend, Butch. Nice Haiku!

    1. Thank you. Happy weekend to you as well.

    1. Thank you for the link, Traci.
