Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy is Concerned

“Hi, Boss.”

“Well, hello Lucy. How are you today?”

“Pretty good boss but I have a question.”

“I wonder if you could set that computer aside for a minute?”

“Oh, sure, sweetheart.”

“Darn thing anyway.”

“You had a question?”

Yeah. Mom tells us you are heading overseas.”

“Yes, that is true. I’ll be gone a couple of weeks.”

“What’s with that face?”

“I’m worried.”

“About what?”

“That you’ll forget us.”

“How is that possible? You are my babies.”

“And the kibble will show up as usual?”

“Thanks, Boss. I think we’ve covered it all. Time to rest.”

“Sleep tight, Lucy.”

“Have a nice trip, Boss. Don’t forget the souvenir.”

“Wouldn’t think of forgetting. Thanks.”

Lucy has a way to introduce the fact that I will be leaving for Scotland on the 18th returning on the 30th. We are going to visit the birthplace of our grandparents. This trip will place a little pressure on my blogging so I apologise in advance if I miss a comment or even a post. I’ll do my best to stay current but one never knows.

  1. I love these photos! Remember, I’m still available to dog sit, John. Have a great trip! Be safe. I’ll miss Lucy’s sweet face.

    1. I think she will be manning the fort. Thanks, Jill.

  2. Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented:
There are three dogs that I follow regularly as they do put a spin and new perspective on life.. Danny, Ani and Lucy (and jeez must not forget the fabulous Zoe the Feline) are a delight.. their owners are not too shabby either.. John Howell is going to Scotland on the 18th to the land of his forefathers…. Lucy is rightly concerned about the trip.. so lovely

    1. Thank you, Sally. High five from Lucy too.

  3. LOL, John this is adorable. But it’s a truly wonderful vacation, so forget blogging and enjoy yourself. 🙂 Of course you’ll need to call Lucy and crew frequently, but as for the blogosphere… Just have a safe, happy, relaxing, terrific time. Mega hugs.

    1. I have the posts under my control set up so it should not be a problem. Thanks, Teagan.

  4. Love the 4th picture. Have a great trip. Seems totally worth missing a post or two. Have any stops planned?

    1. We will be going to Edinburgh, Inverness, Port Soy and Glasgow. In county by car.

      1. Awesome. Though driving there terrifies me. On the odd side of the road and all that.

      2. Me too. My nephews are doing the driving.

So sweet…it’s amazing how Lucy speaks volumes with just a glance. She and Bailey are your babies – impossible to forget. I suspect they’ll accompany at least in spirit. Have a wonderful trip, John. 🙂

    1. They will in spirit. Thanks, Gwen.

  6. Have a great time John. I’ll try and organise the best of our Summer weather for you.

    1. I’m looking forward to cooler and rain is okay too. Thanks, David.

  7. I Love Lucy – those photos are so precious, John. I hope you have a safe trip and wonderful weather (you did say Scotland…). If you miss us, we’ll understand. I hope you’ve negotiated the finest of care for Luce and her mates.

    1. She and they will be in the best of hands. Thanks, Dan

  8. Enjoy and take loads of pictures! That will our souvenir !! Give Lucy an extra treat for letting us know about your trip.

    1. Ha ha ha. I will have to fit a treat in between treats. Thanks, GP. 🙂

  9. Have a great time in Scotland, John. Enjoy the weather. How could Lucy think you could forget her. I mean – look at that face!

    1. I know right? Thanks, Keith.

  10. Reblogged this on Words To Captivate ~ by John Fioravanti and commented:
Author John W. Howell has gifted us with a touching interaction between himself and Lucy – and the pictures are to die for! Please, read on…

    1. Thank you , John.

      1. You’re welcome, John.

  11. Thanks for this marvelous gift this morning – I love the Lucy interactions – and the pictures are adorable! Have a wondrous and safe trip, John!

    1. Thank you, John. I’m looking forward to it.

      1. You’re welcome, good sir.

  12. Lucy is so adorable sweet! It’s funny how pets seem to know when we’ll be gone for an extended period of time. They get “the look” that makes you want to go Awwww.

    1. She has the “look” when I go to the store. She get anxious when her peeps are gone. I think it comes from being abandoned. We alway make sure she has someone.

  13. Safe travels…and have fun!

    1. Thank you , Pilgrim. I plan on it.

  14. Lucy (and Baily) sound a lot like my spaniel Toby – everything revolves around his tummy with walkies coming a close second. 😀
Enjoy your stay in bonny Scotland! If you’re doing the whisky distillery tours around Inverness, do say ‘hi’ to ‘Nessie’ on the Loch… if you spot her afterwards! 😉

    1. I’ll be sure to get a photo for you. Thanks, Jan.

  15. Have fun in Scotland. Hope you make it to Edinburgh, my all time favorite city.

    1. We will be there four days. A lot to see there.

      1. John, this morning the sun rose in Edinburgh at 4:30 am and will set at 10:00 pm. That does not account for twilight . You’re in for a lot of sunlight

      2. Thanks, Greg. Light is good.

  16. Safe travels, John.

    1. Thank you, Traci. 🙂

  17. I love Lucy posts!
And Scotland? Seriously jealous here, even though my ancestors hail from Italy.
Have a fun time and a safe trip!

    1. Someday you’ll get there to sign all the Italian versions of your books. 😀

      1. I like that thought! 🙂

  18. Marie Cheine · ·

    Safe travels.

    1. Thank you, Marie. 🙂

  19. Poor Lucy. I know the babies will be okay while y’all are away. Have SO much fun, John

    1. They are in the best of car. Thanks, Audrey.

  20. Safe travels, John! Scotland it on my bucket list, so take notes. 🙂

    1. I’ll report back. Thanks, Jan.

  21. So, it’s only a few hundred mile round trip to come to Devon and visit. I know from Rhonda that y’all do that sort of distance over there just for a decent cup of Joe, I’ll put the kettle on.

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks for the invite, Dale. Perhaps next time.:-D

      1. Do I get my own room?

      2. When you say “room”…our shed is quite roomy.

  22. Love Lucy’s expressions. Have a fantastic time and make sure to keep the kibble coming!

    1. Thanks, Teri. 😀

  23. Scotland? Might I say I’m just pea-green with envy, John?? I love the idea of visiting the Motherland when possible, even if the babies have to go to “camp” for a little while. Lucy et. al. will be just fine — maybe you’ll bring them back a stuffed sheep or something! No pressure from here to maintain a regular blogging schedule — enjoy that vacation!!

    1. I think I have the two weeks pretty much set up. Tuesdays and Saturday may be iffy. I plan to do Views of the Scottish neighborhood on Sunday. We’ll see how it works. Thanks, Debbie. The babies will be cared for very well.

      1. I can hardly wait — I’ve never been to Scotland and would LOVE to go. Safe travels, John!

  24. Journey mercies to you, John! Have a great and don’t worry about us…or Lucy! A trip like that is even better with a purpose of seeking family ties.

    1. Thank you, Jo. 🙂

  25. So cute John. Safe travels and have a fab trip! 🙂

  26. Have a great trip. First time there? (I haven’t been).

A message for Lucy … If you don’t get the Kibbles, blame Obama.

  27. Enjoy your trip! Sounds amazing, John! Lucy is sooooo cute!

  28. Sounds like a great trip, enjoy yourself. I always worry when I’m away, but it always works out fine. Forget about this place and enjoy yourself.

    1. Thank you, Craig. I will try.

  29. Oh, I love that pup’s mug!! Have a wonderful trip, John. Indeed, do not concern yourself with keeping up with blogs while you’re gone. But we will expect pictures when you get back 😉 Safe travels 😘

    1. Thank you, Marie. I have some posts all set so Lucy won’t be lonely. (Yes she is a fan)

  30. One day I hope to visit Scotland! Enjoy yourself!

    1. Thank you, Traci. I’ll have photos

  31. OMG! Have a wonderful time, and don’t worry about us. I’m looking forward to the tales, and images you share when you return. I’ve never been to Scotland and would love to see it through your viewfinder.
