Thursday – A Little Personal – Bailey’s Lament

“Hi, Boss.”

“Hi, Lucy. What’s happening?”

“Do you think you could set that computer aside and take us to the beach?”

“Sure thing. Is Bailey ready to go?”

“Wait, what?”

“Want to go to the beach?”

“What about my nap?”

“Brother. That would be the tenth nap today.”

“Okay ladies, Let’s hit it.”

“A nice long walk.”

“Thank you, Stella. Lucy and Bailey love your input.”

“Look at these tracks. We should be riding in something like this.”

“Come on Bailey. A walk will do you good.”

“I just had my nails done. Look at Lucy. She’s just sitting there.”

“I’m trying to figure out where that sand crab went. I think he jumped into a dune buggy.”

“Okay give me a moment. I have this itch.”

“Sure Bailey. You are allergic to walks.”

“Oh, that was a good one. ย Come onย Lucy. ย I guess we’ll have to do this thing.”

“I don’t know. I’m now thinking we should wait until nighttime for this. Do that itching thing again. Maybe it will buy us some time.”

“He’s getting a little impatient.”

“Okay ladies. Either walk or we go back home.”

“Ahh. Love the AC.”

  1. Gwen Plano · ·

So cute! The best intentions are foiled by high temps and an AC. Loved the dialogue and photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Gwen. Love your visits.

  2. They look so happy at the beach. So, what was Stella doing in that picture?

    1. Telling us to take a long walk in the story. In real life she was demanding that I pet her.

      1. Got it. Couldn’t tell if she was happy or angry. Seen cats use that face for both.

      2. Her demanding face.

  3. I understand the appeal of AC this summer.

    1. Yes indeed. I understand you folks have been in the 90’s. (At least that’s what our local witch doctor says.)

      1. Lately, and it feels like a repreive from the ten days over 100. Happens every year, don’t know why it always seems like a surprise.

      2. It is like that everywhere. When we have hurricane like water during hurricane season we are always surprised. “What? The gas tanks are empty? What a surprise.”

      3. Yup. I guess we’re all human, even though we know what happens.

      4. So true. ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. You should have never given them that option, John. I’m with Bailey – you should be taking them for a ride on the beach.

    1. Ha ha ha. Funny thing is Bailey hates the golf cart. Go figure. ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Seems like Bailey is more suited for the couch.

  5. I love watching them!

    1. Thank you, Pam. I love living with them. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. Reblogged this on Words To Captivate ~ by John Fioravanti and commented:
John W. Howell gifts us with another episode of life with Bailey, Lucy, and Stella. They just get better each time out! Don’t miss this one!

    1. Thank you, John. So nice.

      1. You’re welcome, good sir!

  7. Another super episode, John, thank you so much for these!

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I see one of my Molson’s is missing. (I have them marked)

      1. Aw shucks busted again!

      2. Might be the footprints in my jello.

      3. Yeah, my size 14s are a dead giveaway!

      4. Haha! The dreaded Jell-O trap.
This was a terrific visit with you and the girls, John. Have a thriving Thursday — Looks like Bailey and Lucy are now they’re back in the AC. ๐Ÿ˜€

      5. Yup. Their favorite place.

  8. I love these. Great post!

    1. Thank you, Staci. ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Scooter is glaring at me.

    He glares harder….

“We don’t live near the beach.”

    He glares even harder.

“Hey, you get to poop and pee anywhere you want to, 24/7. They don’t.”

    Tail wagging….

    1. That’s right. When we need to poop or pee we have to rely on these humans to be able to interpret the need. They get it right most of the time. The others? Well let’s just say we have learned to dance.

  10. Love these. Their faces are so expressive and your dialogue is perfect. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Jan -)

  11. Always a treat, John! Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Natalie. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I love these guys… thanks John.. xx

    1. Thanks and Hugs, Sally

  13. That was so much fun! These are always such a delight. You (and the girls) really have a knack for these posts.

    1. Thank you, Mae. So nice of you to say so. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. I’m with Bailey and Lucy – love the beach, but hot days like this, I stay by the AC.

    1. I can understand that, Teri.

  15. I thought it was only mad dogs and ENGLISHmen that went out in the hottest part of the day! ๐Ÿ˜› At least Bailey and Lucy got some fresh air for a little while – and that A/C is so nice to come back to afterwards! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. It was actually 8:00 and quite cool ( 76 degrees F )

      1. Positively tropical! It’s good for the pooches to stretch their legs anyway ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. That beach looks wonderful, John. Great post.

    1. Thank you, Robbie. It is very nice.

  17. Claire@LinleyRoss · ·

Hahaha this are absolutely brilliant – I love the energy in your writing!

    1. Thank you, Claire.

  18. Smart girls! These remind me of cartoons but you illustrate them with photos instead. I can imagine it being called “John’s House” or “Beach Life” or perhaps “John Writes.” Always entertaining! Stay cool!

    1. Thank you, Jo. I’m glad you like it.

  19. That first image of the beach looked like snow!

And I LOVE their post-beach walk mambo dance.

    Well done Sheriff.

    1. Thank you, Pilgrim. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. They are so cuuuute!

    1. Thank you, Cheryl. They keep me laughing. ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. Giggle. Love them and the words you choose to give their sweet faces.

    1. Thanks, Audrey.

  22. When I saw this post last week I had to come … then I forgot (Obama’s fault) …. then I remembered (obviously Trump’s credit).

I imagine you get a summer breeze, but I would think the summer humidity is a bit high … besides, I heard them cheering the AC.

    1. The humidity is awful. We don’t normally have high humidity except when there is a Southwest wind off the Gulf. They love the AC

      1. I’m definitely not a high humidity person.

      2. Not sure who is unless those who do Yogi in the heat.

  23. Adorable. Is this what ‘leading a dog’s life’ really means?

    1. Around here it does. Thanks, Micki.
