Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Bailey Go Out

Stella, Lucy and Bailey

“What Stella?”

“Do you see these two wolfhounds poised to devour my food?”

“Your bowl is on my books. Maybe they are thinking of reading.”

“Not even funny in your author world, John. How about getting these two outside.”

“Hey Pops. Check out Lucy.”

“What’s she doing?”

“Still trying to get the lizard.”

“Lucy, leave that lizard alone.

“Shush, Boss. I think I have him this time.”

“Right Lucy. I can see he has his eye on you.”

“Look, Boss. He’s running right to me.”

“Sure he is, Lucy.”

“Dagnabit, he took a left turn.”

“Boy I’ve never seen him do that before.”

“Okay, Boss I get it. flummoxed again.”

“Hey, Lucy. You get ’em?”

“You are quite the comedian Bailey.”

“Why don’t you two play in the yard. There will be another lizard later.”

“You think the Boss is losing it, Bailey?”

“I think ole Pops was trying to distract you with that lizard tale.”

“I guess you are right. I thought he didn’t know I knew there is a lizard every hour.”

“He knows.”

“Good. I would hate to think the old boy is slipping. What the heck are you doing?”

“My afternoon sun bath and back rub. This is a spa after all.”

“I dunno. I think y’all are starting to unravel. Oh well, it is still a happy place and the sun feels good.”

Lucy is so right, it is a happy place and the sun feels so good. Great photos and dialogue, John. You capture the personalities beautifully :D. Enjoy your paradise today.

  2. Warm Texas sun and gulf breezes, it really is a spa!

    1. For these two for sure. Thanks, GP.

  3. The photos of Lucy staring down the lizard are great, John! Once I was doing the same with my camera and the tiny green critter jumped on the lens. Sadly, I was too startled to get a photo.

    1. Ha ha ha. I would have loved to see that photo. Thanks, Jill

  4. Definitely a happy pair of puppies. That’s the life we should all aspire to. πŸ™‚

    1. Would be great. Thanks, Charles.

  5. I look forward to these posts every week. Thanks for the morning smile, John.

    1. Thank you, Staci. They are fun to do as well.

  6. I love these guys. It does look like they are in a permanent happy place.

    1. Thanks, Dan. πŸ˜€

  7. It looks like Lucy’s laughing in the last couple of pics.

    1. She does a lot of laughing but the is her contemplative face.

  8. Always a treat, John. Thank you. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, Natalie.

  9. That’s awesome. At my house it’s a squirrel. Otto goes crazy chasing him down the fence and up a tree. Frankie just chases Otto and I don’t think she even knows the squirrel is there.

    1. Ha ha ha. Sounds like a fun circus.

      1. It is a circus environment for sure.

  10. Gosh, you have to wonder how they handle the stress. πŸ™‚

    1. Not well. That’s why they have me. To keep their lives stress free.

  11. Ahh, warm sunlight….water glistening in the distance…sounds like my kind of spa. I wouldn’t even mind the lizard hanging around πŸ™‚

    1. This lizard has been here for years. Lucy has been after him for the same amount of time.

  12. Charming pictures and dialogue as always, John. Such expressive faces.

    1. They make me laugh.

  13. Reblogged this on Words To Captivate ~ by John Fioravanti and commented:
Author John W. Howell delights us with another episode with his furry kids, Stella, Lucy, and Bailey. Today, Lucy stalks a lizard! Please enjoy!

    1. Thank you so much for the reblog, John

      1. You’re welcome, John.

  14. So sweet John! That lizard looked ready to leap onto Lucy’s nose! Imagine her surprise!

    1. That would have been worth the price of admission.

Another lizard later…very true. i think they have it right its time to lay in the sun and relax:)

    1. I agree. Thanks DL

  16. I love your fur family, John. It’s good to hear Stella still knows how to keep Bailey and Lucy in line. The sun and fresh air sound wonderful. You should be outside with them.

    1. I should. I think I’ll take the camera away from them and take the pictures myself. Thanks, Michelle.

  17. And the idyll goes on! πŸ˜€
Toby says “Hi” and that he’s having tons of fun in all the mud</i) over here – different sort of spa over here! πŸ˜‰

    1. Love the mud baths.

  18. This looks like so much fun, John. Wish I was there instead of in a dreary office all day.

    1. I spent many a year in a dreary office. Be patient. πŸ˜€

  19. Ooh, I remember those lizard things from when I lived in Gulfport. Yuck! They terrified me and looking into that one’s beady eyes, I see why. Looks like it’s up to something. Better keep the fur-kids out of its path!

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks, Debbie.

  20. Those two definitely have a rough life.

    1. It is Obama’s fault we can’t have the same. Thanks, Frank.

  21. There can’t be a single bad day with these three around. Too cute.

    1. Only when one doesn’t feel well. Thanks, Audrey.
